Two of the top contenders on "American Idol" this week -- Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze -- took some big risks with their performances. (In the case of Crystal, it was a didgeridoo in "Come Together," whereas Lee busted out the bagpipes for "Hey Jude"). Not only did it add a sense of fun to this week's McCartney and Lennon-themed episode, but it also helped to deliver a ratings win for Fox.
According to the latest numbers, "Idol" averaged approximately 20 million viewers for the two hours it was on the air. While that may pale in comparison to seasons past, it was impressive once you consider the competition. For the first hour of the show, "Idol" was competing directly against both "NCIS" on CBS and the "Dancing With the Stars" results show on ABC. It didn't win the hour by much, but it was able to increase its lead going into the 9:00 p.m. Eastern time slot.
On Wednesday night, the top nine on "American Idol" will quickly become the elite eight. Based on performances combined with viewer voting over the course of the past several weeks, it appears on the surface that Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Katie Stevens, and Tim Urban are the four contestants in the greatest about of jeopardy of going home. Crystal and Lee continue to be strong -- and they also gave the audience plenty to talk about.
Who do you think will go home Wednesday? Check out the photos from the show below and feel free to share your thoughts.

I am really sick of people blaming their evictions on the voters. I think it is up to the performers to do so well that people want to vote for them. I thought that Mike's performance was lazy. If he wanted my vote, he should have asked for it by being outstanding.
In this experience, I felt that he was rather arrogant. He isn't that good. A good voice does not make someone a winner.
