American Idol's new season premieres tonight and as in a fair play in favor of country music, a new judge has arrived.
The Australia raised multi-Grammy winner Keith Urban will represent one of the genres that has played an important role in the history of the show. From Carry Underwood to Scotty Mcreery, the Idols are amongst the biggest country music stars today, but they were not judged exactly by an insider in such category.
Urban himself is an icon and the first foreing singer-songwriter to conquer country music. He has won four Grammy Awards; has been honored by the CMAs, the Academy of Country Music Awards, People's Choice Awards, etc. and was nominated this year for a Golden Globe. Speaking of the Globes, Mario Lopez asked Urban while on the red carpet this past Sunday if American Idol is what he thought it would be, to which he affirmed “Yeah, I thought it would be crazy, insane, fun... It's completely all those things and we’ve got some killer singers, that’s the big thing about this year.”
Concerning Keith Urban on tour, he will hit the road in Jan. 25, starting with Australia playing seven dates followed by the States in July 18. New Yorkers will have to wait until Aug. 9 to see him performing on stage. Meanwhile, let's see what Keith has to offer by the side of Mariah Carey, Nicky Minaj, Randy Jackson and of course Ryan Seacrest on the American Idol new season premiere.
