'American Idol' coming to Albuquerque July 15

The 'American Idol' bus tour is now making its way to the Land of Enchantment on July 15. Singers and fans of the show, get ready because next week will be your chance to audition for 'American Idol' and possibly become a star. After the tour bus visits Portland, Oregon and Reno, Nevada, it will be coming here to Albuquerque, New Mexico. The tour bus will be parked at the Old Town Plaza where it will be holding auditions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is expected to be a large crowd of enthusiastic fans and singers waiting for their chance at fame. If you plan on going, they ask that you arrive just before 9 am if you want to be seen. The competition is also being shown nationally on FOX.

As with most events that take place in Old Town, the plaza is giving visitors a taste of New Mexico culture and music. Visitors will be greeted with mariachi music and Native American dancers to entertain the large crowd that will be gathering during the 'American Idol' audition. This is a wonderful cultural treat not only for those who are auditioning, but even for Albuquerque folks who just want to stop on by to enjoy the music, dancing and entertainment of people auditioning and practicing their songs in the plaza. Whether Albuquerque is having one of its bright, sunny days or a rainy day due to monsoon season, the 'American Idol' auditions will still be held, so do not miss this opportunity.

Those who will be auditioning should keep checking the 'American Idol' website for any changes or announcements that may occur. Bring two forms of id with you, such as a drivers license, birth certificate, passport or school id card, as well as a photograph. Those who are under 18 will need a Guardian and Medical Authorization for Minors form which can be downloaded off their website. This must be filled out, signed and notarized before arriving. After participants complete the registration portion, they will wait in line for their opportunity to audition. Please note that there will be no camping out allowed, so visitors must arrive that day for registration and their audition.
