'American Idol:' Another season of great voices and those who come short

On tonight’s premiere of “American Idol” 13th season, viewers were first of all presented with 3 new judges that are refreshing in presence and do appear to care for the contestant at hand and don’t push for making the show about them. Jennifer Lopez who is known for dressing up and leaving mouths open with awe, tonight wore simple dresses that did not take center stage, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. bring such carefree atmosphere and even in their denials appear to be more disappointed than the contestant being told that their voice isn’t up to par.

The auditions were moving, not so much because of the story behind the singer, but because of the passion these singers have in them and the drive to succeed in such a competitive industry. But yes, “American Idol” is more about the singers and their talent, leaving out the entire extravaganza that other shows dazzle the audience with.

However, there wasn’t any one voice that left viewers mesmerized and looking forward to hearing again, although, yes there were some that without question earned the Golden Ticket to Hollywood, CA. others were put through and it was surprising, and as always there were those who upon being told no, stormed out proclaiming that the judges had made a mistake and that they didn’t know talent.

The auditions continue on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Fox and its regular time is Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. EDT.
