Andrew Garcia has some big plans for "American Idol" -- and not all of them necessarily have to do with song choice. In a new interview with Access Hollywood at the top 12 party in Los Angeles, Garcia said that he would propose on TV to girlfriend Christine if he had a "big rock" and the right opportunity.
"Idol" painted Garcia during his audition episode as a struggling musician trying to keep his family together -- he has a child with Christine and they are working to make ends meet. He became the talk of much of the TV community earlier this year after covering Paula Abdul's "Straight Up," and his inability to measure up to that performance thus far has caused some tension between himself and the judges.
However, Garcia had a message for Simon and company after they panned his recent performance of "Genie in a Bottle:" "get over it." Everything Andrew says (including his pledge to propose on TV) all seems to be in good humor, so we probably can't take any of it too seriously. If nothing else, his candid responses will probably enable him to stand out and get a few more fans than the run-of-the-mill contestant (*cough* Katie Stevens).

I think Andrew has a lot of talent. I think he would find good songs to suit his style by listening to Doug Sahm and the Sir Douglas Quartet, Alejandro Escobedo, Ray Wylie Hubbard and the Velvet Underground
