On Sunday, we learned that "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert was nearing the top 40 with new single "If I Had You." So how is he doing in competition against his fellow former "Idol" contestants? According to the latest numbers courtesy of USA Today and Mediabase, Adam's new single moved up 17 places this week to #47 with 357 spins across the board (the majority of which coming from these select "top 40" stations).
Adam's song is only two spots behind Kris Allen's new song "The Truth," which is getting the majority of its support thus far from Adult Contemporary stations.
At the top of the charts, Adam is still holding strong with "Whataya Want from Me," and it doesn't look like any other song will overtake it anytime soon. (As for Kris, is "Live Like We're Dying" is sitting pretty at #3.)

I didn't think Adam Lambert had actually released his new single yet? I know he has said it will be his new one and he performed it on Jay Leno. But is the video out? Once the music video comes out it will gain air spins. Haven't seen anything on Kris's music. Is he performing his stuff anywhere? Does he have a video for his second song?
I think both Chris and Adam will do well with their new singles. Adam's new song "IF I HAD YOU" is pure JOY!!!!!(with a stompin beat)I dance to it all the time now and it sure does make ME smile...............
This is always an Adam blog. Sometimes Kris is added, that is why he only shows Adam, that's all. What is sad is that Matt still makes it a competition although American Idol 8 was finished last May '09. Adam and Kris have been in separate careers that have nothing to do with each other.Kris's band is more like Cook's than Adam's so it makes no sense to anyone except Matt.I love both and the variety is fun. Double the fun.
I think when the video comes out this single will really soar. I love ALL his songs but think this song will be an especially good radio hit and I know the video will be ADAMAZING!
Someone asked if Kris has been performing his song. Yes!! He performed it yesterday with Pat from Train at Mixfest. Having Pat on the single should give it a HUGE boost. Pat is really popular. Adam's new music video will give his song a boost when it comes out. Kudos to both of them.

If Matt chooses to continue using Adam's pictures, that is his prerogative and this is HIS column, not yours. Yay for Adam!! Can't wait for IIHY video. OHP played IIHY twice this past Saturday night (Adam was in studio and took some calls from fans since he was already in Boston for the KISS concert). The DJ also played FYE which was a thrill...I've never, ever heard it on the radio. I noticed that it has moved back into the Idol top 100 airplay list per USA today. I always hoped that FYE would get a second life because it's a great song and not any nastier than most of the crap on the radio today. Can't wait for Glamnation tour! I've got confirmed tix in my hand and travel arrangements already set for 2 shows and am planning to try to land tix to 2 more shows that are within driving distance for me. Can't freaking wait!!!

When artists perform on AI, they get a Hugh jump in sales. Kris, but not Adam, will perform his new single on AI this week. Kris's single is not the same as on his CD-his single has Train's Pat Monahan singing on the single. Adam's single is himself as on CD. Good luck to both friends and both will do well-the lyrics to both songs are interesting.
I love 'If I Had You" and I think adult comtemporary will go wild over 'Soaked'when it is released- and it will stay that way for decades. Adam and Kris both performed at KISS 108. Adam will headline his firt N American tour this summer with Orianthi and Allison opening for him. We have our tickets and counting days.
LOL. Adam's song is not rapidly rising up the charts. It's moving up slow and steady like his previous song did. Katy Perry's song is rising rapidly up the charts. You need to get some persepective. There is nothing wrong with the way the song is progressing so far, but try to be more factual in the future. Also, Kris's new single is not getting most of its airplay on adult contemporary. It's on Hot Adult Contemporary (HAC), which is a completely different format.

First of all let me say that I am a STAUNCH ADAM supporter ... BUT that doesn't mean that I don't have an OPEN mind about other music ... Kris .. Allison. IMO ... now mind you it's only IMO ... Kris version of 'The Truth' on his album is MUCH BETTER than the collaborative version with Pat from Train. I like the way Kris sings it SOLO. So happy to hear that both ADAM & Kris are doing so well in their careers. They both deserve to since they obviously are working their 'butts' off to be successful. So STOP the dang fan BS & START supporting the artist you LOVE w/o MALICE toward anyone else!!

He will also be headling lots of shows this summer with Green River Ordinance opening for him. He has also opened/will be opening for some major acts. Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Lady A, The Fray just to name a few. So yea you need to stop comparing cuz its pointless

Let me help you with the facts: Kris' song has gotten the majority of its airplay on Hot AC stations not Adult Contemporary stations, it's not the same thing. Kris' song The Truth, is currently in 36th place on the Hot AC charts. The song was just released to top 40 stations, but it is currently ranked 118th on that chart. Adam's new song is ranked 57th on the pop charts.
More importantly, Kris and Adam are not rivals, except in the mind's of a few pathetic people who are upset that when Kris and Adam were in competition against one another, Kris won. So, get over it.
