'American Idol:' Adam Lambert talks Michael Jackson, Madonna (video)

On Friday night Adam Lambert appeared on ABC's "Nightline," and the former "American Idol" runner-up shared some of his past musical inspirations.

While we already know from Friday morning that Adam is a fan of Bob Marley and David Bowie, he shared some of his additional favorites during the special:

  • Madonna's "Vogue:" We've heard in the past that Adam has a special place in his heart for Madonna, but the spoken-word portion of "Vogue" in particular was one of his favorite pieces of music as a child.
  • Michael Jackson's "Thriller:" One of the most influential music videos of all time, this song for Adam helped him realize that he wanted to perform for a living.
  • Depeche Mode's "Pain That I'm Used To:" Adam's version of a break-up song, this song helped him recover from a failed relationship.
  • Lady Gaga's "Speechless:" We all know that Lambert loves Lady Gaga, so this last one shouldn't be much of a surprise. However, he credited "Speechless" specifically for sounding like a throwback to some 1970s piano ballads a la Elton John.

Do you agree with some of Adam Lambert's choices? Check out the video below and feel free to share your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more "American Idol" news.
