'American Idol': Adam Lambert's 'Fever' finding success in New Zealand

For those of you hoping that "Fever" could someone become a single for Adam Lambert here in the United States, there is some good news -- the song is at least getting some good play in certain parts of the world. We've already heard about the song hitting #1 in Singapore, and now we are hearing good news from fans in New Zealand.

First, we begin with the song's placement on ZM Online's Top 20 Countdown -- the website currently lists "Fever" as #8, but some kind fans have posted on the "American Idol" singer's forum that the song is actually now at #5 on the chart close by other American artists such as Rihanna ("Only Girl") and Katy Perry ("Teenage Dream").

When looking at some of the international sales data from iTunes, the song is covering close to the top ten -- which is incredibly impressive considering many fans in the country already own the album. (After all, "For Your Entertainment" is Certified Platinum in New Zealand.)

How many conservative radio stations are there in N. America? Don't many of them play rap music with it's messages of violence & misogyny? Has anyone bothered to survey radio stations about playing Fever? If it's not too expensive to promote the single, it would be an interesting test of the music biz, including radio.

After the AMA's, many in "the biz" claimed Adam was finished because he was too uppity & who did he think he is. So, he did it without them, but his management & record label were steadfast in their support. So, what have we learned from all of this? There's a book in here somewhere!

Need to add, the FYE single did not get the support & promotion by the label that it should have - they got skittish.

Ah, xenaPW - there should definitely be a book! I agree with you - Adam's label should put Fever out in N. America and promote it. He's already proven that he's an artist who is breaking the mold. I'm guessing fans would rally behind the decision and requet airplay! Good way to test the market for sure!

Yes, and use that wonderful video of "Fever" from his Glam Nation tour that is sitting on the VH-1 website as the music video for this song while Adam is busy entertaining overseas and doesn't have time to make another video. It's perfect!

I keep saying it. They're underestimating the American public. Is it part of their publicity strategy to keep saying it's too hot to handle, to titillate and peak people's curiosity about the song? It's a sure fire winner, in my eyes.

OK I plead with every Adam Lambert Fan to please e mail his record company, his management company, and the radio stations to PLEASE RELEASE MORE SONGS FROM FYE..FEVER, AFTERMATH, SLEEPWALKER, SOAKED, SUREFIRE WINNERS, VOODOO, there are so many and they can'T just put them in a vault...PLEASE MAKE YOUR VOICE KNOWN, SUPPORT ADAM AND LET;S GET IT DONE!!

There is no doubt that Fever would be a hit in spite of the homophobic DJ's.

Fever and Aftermath should both be released....Aftermath especially in light of recent teenage suicides! The message in the lyrics of Aftermath is so strong, so clear, so positive...Like IIHY, it could and should become a mantra! Fever is just downright fun which is another quality people need in their lives!

Release the whole damn album please!!

I'm going against the grain and saying it is too early to release Fever in the US. It has been a real struggle getting radio play, he needs to get firmly established before e starts taking huge risks
