Adam Lambert's "For Your Entertainment" debuted with a bang, and now the "American Idol" runner-up is getting ever closer to having his debut album certified gold. The latest sales numbers are in courtesy of Nielsen SoundScan, and it's certainly enough to make fans of Adam celebrate.
"For Your Entertainment" was the top-selling album of any "Idol" alum last week, bringing in 20,000 copies compared to 18,000 for Carrie Underwood and 5,000 for Kris Allen. That puts Adam's disc at 477,000 albums sold, meaning that he will likely hit the milestone sometime in early February. A number of things could cause sales to fluctuate before then, including airplay, promotion, and public perception.
Adam has spent most of this week so far promoting his album in Canada, but he will once again be a presence in America this weekend as a correspondent for the Grammy Awards. Will it lead to more album sales? Considering that he will be on "Entertainment Tonight" at least one night next week (and maybe more), it is fairly likely.

Adam has worked hard for this. He deserves it! Even though people like you (Mike) insist on saying mean, hateful, slanderous things about him....he contines to be nice to everyone he meets, including the media. Mike, you can buy whatever cd you like, and clearly you don't like Adam Lambert's. No loss to him, he will go gold without your support. Fans may vote multiple times on American Idol, but to say that someone's cd is selling well because fans are buying 10 copies each is laughable. Adam has millions of fans worldwide. I saw his amazing performance this summer in concert and he blew everyone away. You don't have to like him, but you have to acknowledge that millions (almost all buying ONE copy each) love him and are buying his cd. So, surf the net and find articles about your favorite artists and buy their music.

Tell Adam not to worry that the puritans were shocked and the networks got scared. They all thought Elvis was the devil and the Beatles were heretics. But now, who are the musical icons who will be remembered forever? Adam is in that class. Safe is fine for some, but Adam is a visionary.

Even though I am an advid Adam fan, I have not purchased 10 copies just to boost the sales, I thought there was a version out with "Down the Rabbit Hole", and "Master Plan", so have been looking for that as well. I don't think Adam needs his fans to purchase tons of copies, his talent alone will carry him where he needs to be. I think if people would get beyond their fears and prejudices and really take a honest look at this incredibly talented young man, listen to his CD, look at some of his pre-Idol videos, they might like what they see. Of course, not everyone likes the same types of music, and some still may not enjoy Adams, but at least they would have taken an honest look and could be respected for their opinions.

I am really happy for Adam. This CD is awesome and he is doing great. I think he was robbed on AI so I am happy to see him kicking Kris album sales. Kris isn't anything that great and his sales numbers show that.

Mike: It doesn't matter how many copies each fan is buying -- what matters is the end result. Some idols have fans who like them enough to buy just one copy, while other idols, like Adam, are capable of getting very dedicated fans who go crazy enough for them to buy 10 copies each. Adam's fanbase may not be as huge as say, Kelly Clarkson, but his fans are certainly much more dedicated to him than Kelly Clarkson fans are to her.
Would you rather want a casual fan who's only willing to spend so much money on your stuff, or a fan who's willing to spend hundreds and hundreds of money on you and who worships the ground you walk on?
Hooray for Adam! I bought the cd just to hear what he was all about and enjoy every song on it! A little something for many tastes in music. The "mikes" that troll the internet are on every news site too ranting about whatever. I stopped reading those long time ago. They seem to be sad, lonely, possibly mentally ill people. Just leave them be.

Adam Lambert is a very versatile singer. I absolutely love his voice. I purchased 2 cd's for myself. One for the office and one for home. I love every single song on the cd, and there is a song for each mood, so it is perfect. Love that he is living his dream. Enjoy the international touring Adam!

Thanks to the support of his awesome fans, Oprah,Ellen and his great team of people this is the direct result of this news. Did I mention that Adam has got the voice of an angel and the personality to match. Why should he be anybody else but himself. I have seen it all over the years and I like what I see, he has guts and style and swagger too. What I like the most is he can sing and tell a story, he can sing and make me want to dance. He can sing and make me think. He can sing and make want to be a better person. Did I mention he can sing.

I think Pants on the ground is a better song than anything Kris sings.
Happy for Adam and I love his fabulous persona but perhaps if he toned it down a tiny bit he will appeal to the masses more. His voice is worthy of center stage and so he doesn't need all the costumes over the top hair styles and much toooooo heavy makeup. Less is more in makeup Adam. Also, someone should encourage him to get a super moisturizer so his skin looks less lined and more nourished. Just trying to be helpful!

Adam has entertained us all year- every week, my family, friends, co-workers tuned into AI just to hear and watch Adam, same with the Tour, same w all the youtube videos and all the articles. His multi-octave vocal range and creativity and intriguing intrepid personality, we really like the guy. His CD is very very good, and he can make a variety of albums for years and he has the talent to do it- this will be first of many golds.
Definitely, Adam Lambert deserves a gold record for his album. It contains a lot of variety, good music, fantastic singing, nicely songsmithed. No need to skip tracks, it's all good, and moves along great, dosn't bore you with same old same old.
I’ve wondered what if AMA didn’t happen? ADAM’s FYE would have been gold in a short time and going platinum now. ADAM lost the conservative fans who loved him during AI. ADAM lost the fans who warmed up to him because he is humble, gracious, respectful and a decent human being. If that AMA happened long after his FYE has dropped, the impact would be less as to lost fans and sales. Worst, he's still blacklisted for live TV performances and cost him the most vital airplay.

Hell-o yes! He should be GOLD, heck I was expecting that if the CD illegal downloads weren't so hard at work he would have gone gold the first month and by now Platinum. Such is life in the new era though. I expect Adam's music to pioneer a new way of cross over music slayers. Artists will take more risk and come out of their little comfort boxes to try more things. Styles middle America never even knew were out there might peek out more and test the waters. All because of Adam. Heck after Adam the music industry is in for a change.

I'm listening to FYE everyday. When he hits the high notes, my feet takes wings and my heart soars. When I was young, I let my prejudices stop me from appreciating Freddie Mercury and let tabloids destroy my love for Michael Jackson. I won't make the same mistakes and I won't take a treasure like Adam for granted.
I'm grateful for your article here in St. Louis. But please tell me why our stations seem to be boycotting Adam's music. In Memphis last week, I heard WWFM all weekend. And that was Memphis. In Dallas 2 weeks ago I heard For Your Entertainment. So, I hope our stations realize what a rising star Adam is and will jump on that. I think playing Adam will def improve the ratings.
Adam is great. I am happy for his sucess. Can't wait to see him on tv again. Adam was really good on Ellen yesterday performing STRUT. He is so talented. Adam needs to do Saturday Night Live. He would be great on the show. I can't believe they have not booked him yet.
Adam's album is fantastic. I listen to it all the time. It makes me happy and want to get up and dance. I am amazed by his talent. If people could just get past the fact that he is gay, I think his album would be platinum!
