'American Idol:' Adam Lambert hypes up Anoop Desai's new song

Adam Lambert may be busy overseas promoting his own debut album ("For Your Entertainment"), but he's also taking the time to support one of his fellow former "American Idol" contestants in Anoop Desai. Adam posted a link to Anoop's debut song early Tuesday morning, where fans can have the opportunity to snag the single (entitled "My Name") and pre-order his upcoming 8-song EP entitled "All Is Fair."

Anoop ended up finishing in seventh place last season on "Idol," as he and Lil Rounds were eliminated in the same episode following the judges using a "save" on Matt Giraud the week before (who ended up placing fifth). However, like Adam he still ended up developing a loyal fan base of his own -- it may not be nearly as large, but they are devoted nonetheless.

As for the single itself, "My Name" sounds a bit too much like every other song out there on top 40 radio -- the thing Anoop has going for him is that he is extremely talented vocally, which will hopefully also shine through on some of his other tracks.

Adam Lambert has frequently supported all of his fellow former contestants -- from winner Kris Allen to Giraud and fourth-place finisher Allison Iraheta.

What do you think of Anoop Desai's new song, and do you admire Adam for supporting him? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more "American Idol" news.
