'American Idol': Adam Lambert faces off with Carrie Underwood on airplay chart

Adam Lambert has been at the top of the "American Idol" airplay chart (courtesy of USA Today) for quite some time, so it only seems natural that he would fall eventually. While we're not at that point yet, it looks like Carrie Underwood will strip him of his crown at some point over the next week or two.

As of right now, Adam's "Whataya Want From Me" stands at 7,976 spins across all media formats -- meanwhile, Carrie's "Undo It" is closing in with 7,253 spins. There's no real other competition in sight, since most other new "Idol" songs (such as Kris Allen's "The Truth" with slightly over 1,000 spins) are still in their early stages.

So how is Adam's new single "If I Had You" currently doing? At 760 spins, the song is up two spots from last week and is currently sitting at #30. If it continues to gain airplay at around 15% a week, it could jump up to #23 by this point next week.

Where do you anticipate "If I Had You" landing after seeing the current data? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more "American Idol" news. To view new photos of Adam, follow the link here.

Ok now I'm totally confused. You're saying IIHY is #30 and others are saying #40. Well, I hope you are the right one Matt. :)

If I Had You will go to the top of the charts. It's a hot song, and perfect for summer. Makes you want to get up and dance.

Matt can you explain to me how an artist gets paid on tour. Is it a flat fee or do the get a percentage of the gate after expensives. How much on average do entertainers of Adam rank make per preformance

If I Had You is such a great song! It has all the makings of a hot summer hit.
