Both Adam Lambert and Kris Allen are establishing names for themselves on the radio, and Monday's new "American Idol" airplay charts (courtesy of USA Today and Mediabase) show the two singers at new peak positions.
In the case of Adam Lambert, this represents his first appearance in the top five with "Whataya Want From Me." The singer is only behind Allen and three other past contestants: Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Daughtry (who is the only one of the top four to not win Fox's competition).
Kris Allen, meanwhile, nearly edged out Clarkson's "Already Gone" this week for the top spot. With over 10,800 spins on the radio, "Live Like We're Dying" will likely be the most-played "Idol" song by this point next week.
Both Adam and Kris have the potential to linger on the charts for quite some time, especially since no major former "Idol" contestant has an album coming out for quite some time. Their main competition may simply be each other -- Adam's new announced single will be "If I Had You."

You really get me upset!!! Why do you every week have to start with Adam Lambert instead of Kris Allen? And why is there always a picture of Adam? You should be imparcial!!!!!! I am a fan of both guys, but I think you should give more focus on Kris because he is almost reaching number one.

Alex, he starts w Adam cuz he uses Adam's name to get readers, but then he subtly puts in a diss. Example, Kris's song is a cover of a popular song, and was released three months before Adam's original song. It would be like him to say, Adam has gold but Kris goes platinum-leaving out that Adam's album is gold and Kris has a song going platinum. See ? Alex, he starts with Adam to get more readers. Adam has a larger fan base I believe, and I like Kris also but I rarely check out the news on him. He's just not that interesting but Adam is, that's just the difference in the two but they are both very talented artists.

I prefer Adam's singing vocals. Adam has a unique style of singing and fashion but above all an infectious attraction. I don't know anyone who recognizes Kris's name - he is okay but he is a bit boring with his new single. Kris is safe, sometimes too safe - he doesn't take risks and I guess that's why I like Adam because he takes risks with his music and polishes them well with his band. Adam's band are also very talented.
He also didn't mention that Kris' single has been out a lot longer than Adam's. He also erroneoulsy stated that Daughtrey was the only non-winner of the four AI singers mentioned.
The fact that Kris's single has been out forever and stations added him right away and play him without request while Adam is just being added now even though the demand to hear his song has been huge and is always requested might have something to do with K being ahead of A!! LOL! Adam has had no promo compared to Kris! Go figure!!
Adam Lambert is such an exciting, gifted singer. I hope he stays around for a long time!

Contrary to the belief of some Adam fans, quite a few people care about Kris and look for news on him before Adam. Shocker, I know. Personally, I find Kris to be extremely funny, engaging and more my style of singer. Not boring at all.
I acknowledge Adam can belt it out, but he's not making the sort of music I like, and I certainly don't go looking for Adam news. I clicked on the link I found for this article because it mentioned Kris.
Maybe it's time for some of you to wake up and realize not everyone is on the Adam bandwagon. Do I wish him ill will? No, I hope Adam succeeds and is very happy. But do I care if I ever hear anything about him again? No. Not in the least.
I like both guys, but I am really surprised that Kris Allen's song is in the top 5. I don't know anyone who likes it, myself included. I turn it off when it comes on. Adam Lambert was one of the most charismatic, entertaining, and talented singer Idol has ever seen. Kudos to him!
Congratulations to both Kris and Adam. They are close friends and the fans should respect that. Let's drop the silly fan wars. They are futile. Both of the Season 8 guys are doing great. Their dreams are coming true and they so deserve it.
Sometime the "war" must stop. Adam and Kris respect each others differences and they both have their own sound. Both artists will grow. For me I think Adam will have the most long term effect and with him we have just seen the tip of the iceberg of talent. Kris is comfortable and can be very fun. See Rock this Town. Kris' single has been out a lot longer than Adam's. But the bottom line is they are both doing well on the radio and I don't think there has been a season where the top 2 have done that. I listen to Hot AC/Top 40 all day long and both Kris and Adam are getting ample spins (I live in Alabama). Congrats to both of them! PS: I have suggestion for both of them - Kris - release another single already and Adam - please release Sleepwalker instead of IIHY (that has not been announced OFFICIALLY yet - Adam only mentioned it to the guy on VH1). His performance of Sleepwalker on The Tonight Show was AWESOME!! I like it a lot better than IIHY. I want Fever but stupid America is afraid of one word. After that my 2nd choice is Strut, then Sleepwalker. It really doesn't matter because every song is great!
I think all the petty fighting should stop. Adam and Kris are friends -- they are very different, but respect each other's music. Why can't we be the same. You like who you like; that is true. But you don't have to diss the other artist. I prefer Adam's music, but I still wish both the best. They will never be the same and that's O.K. Don't they say, "Variety is the spice of life". Appreciate the artist that you like, but stop the nonsense about who is better, more talented, should have could have nonsense. I think Adam's song would do a lot better if radio stations played it. I can't prove that his music is being boycotted by some radio stations, but I have my suspicions.
Check out Adam singing accapello on the show Sunrise this morning. The show is in Austrailia and it iis on YouTube & Adam Official.com. Kris will do fine. Adam is in other countries where his CD is just now being released. Next is Indonesia,Japan,Germany &England . VH-1 3-10-10 1st Unplugged is Adam this Wednesday night. Adam is a worldwide star as Simon said.

i did follow adam's career after AI. i met him in sydney, nice looking guy and amazing, incredible vocal. we love adam here in the land of downunder, everyone is talking about him and it is nice to hear that he is getting tons of airplays since he arrived. i like kris as a person but i do not think he was born to sing, sorry kris.
I'm not sure of all the facts represented in this article. Can the writer please include the source? I follow the website Home of the Glittery Alien, and it doesn't match their information. I could be mistaken, but I'm not sure either has cracked the top 10 except on XM/Sirius radio. Also, the comparison between Adam and Kris is dumb. You might as well be comparing Adam and Kelly.

Adam is amazing and kris is ok but nothing really special. His song sounds exactly the way the band Scripts did it. I really dont see much talent in kris. Adam will go far due to his talent and style and personality. Adam is the whole package. Kris has no stage presence or personality. Saw them in NYC in February and Adam stole the show. Allison was very good. Don't compare Adam and Kris they are so different.
They will probably both do well, I choose Adam for the top. We all know that Adam likes the top. :)
You people who say you don't hear WWFM on the radio must be living in Podunk. It wouldn't be #16 on the Pop chart if it wasn't getting any radio play (which is what you are implying when you say you don't hear it). In fact, it's on a much faster trajectory than LLWD. Don't forget LLWD was released two months before WWFM and look how close they are on the Pop chart - 11 and 16, respectively. That's awesome for WWFM.

I really feel sorry for Kris Allen. Yes, good guy, average vocal skills, but unfortunately for him, he has to wear the crown as AI winner - which only then elicits responses like "Really?", "You've got to be kidding me!", "He's an average at best singer!", just to list a few. Matters worsens when they see and hear Adam Lambert only do wonder why he didn't win. I had similar thoughts and reactions, and perhaps like many people like me, who never got to watch AI last season until it had ended. I only watched (Adam & Kris) performances posted on Youtube and in several daytime shows on tv.
I think it is great both have top hits. Two different artist, but
both equally as talented. I do not understand why the media always has to bring up the fan wars. I prefer Kris' music more, but I enjoy Adam's when he sings acoustic, I'm not into the vocal acrobatics. I think this is why WWFM is doing well on the radio. Either way I hope both find the success they are looking for. Fans do not need to put the other artist down, to show support. It is getting childish.
I am sorry, but I love Kris Allen, and all of the others people that were mentioned, but when it comes to a great vocalist and artist, Carrie Underwood is the all time best AI winner they have ever had. As far as I am concerned she is the best artist of any genre of music right now and has accomplished more in her 4 years than any of these people ever will. I am not running any of the others down. I love each one of them. I just think Carrie, is the total package. She is gorgeous beyond words and has a vocal range that anyone would love to have. She is a real good role model for our younger generation as well. Carrie, belongs at the top of all the charts. Just my opinion!!!

Yes. I like them both. These are the first idols, including Allison, that i am actually paying attention to their careers. I want these people to be successful. No matter what any of the fan bases say, I will like them both, equally. Sorry all these flame wars will not convince me otherwise.
MJ, I live in the SF Bay Area and only heard WWFM once on the radio, and I had to request it. San Jose stations don't play it at all, but they play Kris all the time. I agree with RoRo that Adam is being boycotted.

Comparing Adam and Kris is like comparing apples and oranges only as far as genre preferences are concerned. In terms of vocal ability and stage presence, Kris rates only as "above average" (when comparing him to those _are_ similar to him in style) whereas Adam is an elite virtuoso performer.
I don't know why Kris Allen's single is doing so well. I don't think he sings it very well. I have not really liked anything Kris has sung though. I just don't like Kris's voice. I am really happy though every time I hear WWFM on the radio. I just love Adam's voice on it.
Adam will be international star and remember his album came out about 2 months after Kris's album and look how wwfm is doing...I cannot miss vh1 unplugged 3-10-10..don't know what time but hope someone knows...I live in the midwest, and watch everything I find of Adams music....Hope you had fun in Australia, Adam......
I have never heard any of Adam Lambert songs on the radio just like the previous comments. As far as Kris Allen goes what do you see in him? I never liked him from day one, a terrible singer and performer.
I have only heard Adam Lambert's songs on the radio at like 4 and 5 AM when I am getting ready for work. I work indoors in a office for 12 hours and I never hear his songs again all day long. I hear Kris Allen's song 12 times on the radio a day. So whenever the dj says we can call in and request songs I call in for Adam. I have no idea why they play Kris Allen and not Adam Lambert. It is a shame.
I live in Denver and have yet to hear Adam's songs on the radio. I think he is an amazing singer and performer. I do request WWFM but they just don't seem to play it here. I have heard Kris on the radio but he just doesn't do it for me.
I live in Orlando Central Florida, and I've yet to here Adam on the radio...It truly sucks that these radio stations won't play Adams music! Its interesting pair, Kris Allen definitely is better and more commercial than several of the AI winners and he'd win for sure if he was on again this year. However, comparing him to Adam is like comparing chopsticks to mozart. I wonder if Queen would have been as big as they were if they lived in the time of internet because Freddie was a super flamboyant performer. I saw Adam in concert a few weeks ago, and he is going to be a big star. If you haven't yet, don't worry, he's going to be huge!

I hear Kris LLWD on the way to work, at the stores and on the way home, still have only heard WDFM once @ 1 am in the morning!! I love them both and what to hear them both equally all the time....andwant to hear bother artist that I adore....and what up with all this country on my pop stations...ewww, if I wanted to listen to country I would turn it on that station!
