'American Idol:' Adam Lambert discusses 'big, fat fail' in new video

Adam Lambert made his share of fashion picks.

Adam Lambert proved on Monday night's episode of "Entertainment Tonight" that his talent extends far beyond the world of performance; he can also do a knockout job as a fashion correspondent.

During the broadcast, Adam unveiled his five favorite dresses from the 2010 Grammy Awards. Here were his picks:

5. Katy Perry- Adam liked both the back along with the overall design

4. Taylor Swift- In his words, she was a "glamazon" with "perfect makeup."

3. Fergie- A popular choice from the Grammys, Fergie's blue-and-gold short dress stunned.

2. Rihanna- Her cream-colored gown, coupled with a stylish hairstyle, made her easy to love.

1. P!nk- This was actually Adam's most surprising pick, since P!nk drew most of the buzz for her Grammy performance. However, Adam is also closer to the singer, who helped co-write "Whataya Want From Me."

He also awarded the "Glambert Award" to Lady Gaga, who felt was on "a whole different planet" and should be judged as such. Adam worked with the "Poker Face" singer on the song "Fever" from his album "For Your Entertainment."

So who was the worst dressed in Adam's mind? While he gave the runner-up "big, fat fail" award to fellow "American Idol" alum Carrie Underwood, he ultimately let loose on Miranda Lambert for her fashion faux pas ("great last name...but it looks like a prom dress").

Do you agree with Adam's choices? Check out the video below and let me know your thoughts with a comment.

Actually Lambert was spot on! I really enjoyed him on ET last night.

  • Tom 2 years ago

    Miranda looks good in anything.

  • Marie 2 years ago

I guess classy dresses that don't show cleavage are seen as faux pas nowadays. I thought Miranda looked great. Katy Perry's dress was by far the ugliest one.

  • JV 2 years ago

    Adam, I'm surprised! You're godd!!!

  • imane 2 years ago

i totally agree with him!!! i hated miranda's dress !! i mean the color made it seems so awful and eyes hurting!!!

  • kelly 2 years ago

I have to admit, Adam noticed small details thaat I never would have thought about. When Rihanna came running in, she looked beautiful in that dress and Cinderella running to the ball came to my mind too.Taylor Swift looked the most elegant. Carrie Underwood looked like she wore a 'joke dress costume' or that her dress wasn't finishe in time for the event and I was embarrassed for her, for Katy Perry, too, cheezy looking dress.

  • Robin 2 years ago

Who cares what that looser thinks! Just look at him. Clown suit = good to him and classy = not so good. He's aweful both as an artist and an eye for fashion.

  • Suzie 2 years ago

I liked Pinks silver, white, pewter dress and also Taylor's blue beaded dress. They looked elegant.
Carrie's dress was awful, maybe that's why Adam said she was beautiful so he didn't have to say anything about the dress.
The worst dress, it really is ugly, and to me it looks like something from a discount store. Those my top and bottom 2 picks

  • Meg 2 years ago

Adam did great ! He looked hawt too ! I agree with his choices except Katy's dress was not one of the best or worst.

  • Bob 2 years ago

Miranda's dress far better than Carrie's unraveling disasterpiece.

  • Denise 2 years ago

Adam, you are so right On!!! you are the Bomb!! I love your fashion sense and you look incredible!!! Robin you are an idiot!!

  • Ianaleah 2 years ago

Adam looked too good, it was the first time I was more interested in the interviewer than what dress the ladies wore that I wish I could own. He did a great job too.

  • Tracy 2 years ago

Adam did a good job, but I don't like listening to anyone talking to people about 'who they're wearing' It's boring & everyone has their own personal taste in clothes.

  • Robin 2 years ago

Denise you are the idiot if you like Adam and his clown suit taste. Shows just what trashy people live is this country. I supposed you loved his AMA performance too. His has no taste in clothes. He has no taste in music. He is no great performer. He has a voice, but it is completely wasted on the rest of his talentless package.

  • terie 2 years ago

@Robin: Unfortunately you didn't get the idea of this article ... you are supposed to AGREE or DISAGREE with ADAM's picks ... NOT "BASH" ADAM ... you are so GREEN with ENVY that anything you say is IRRELEVANT!!! SHOO!! GO AWAY!!

  • V 2 years ago

Robin, you are the "IDIOT" here. Adam was gorgeous and his talent is way beyond all others.

If you can't see it, you are definitely a talentless "thing."

    SORRY!!!

  • Robin 2 years ago

Clearly I did get the idea of the article. I clearly disagree with Adam and his talentless, tasteless opinions.

He is "gorgeous" if you think ugly is gorgeous. Again, shows what trash people have come to. Trashy guy with trashy fans. No wonder he's trying to be relevant by not being relevant. When you can't sell the albums your hype said you were going to, then you have to talk trash about people who actually look good just to get attention.

  • Molly 2 years ago

Wow Robin, you sound like a very angry, unhappy person. He wasn't talking trash, he was hired to give his opinion about the best and worst dressed of the evening.

Actually, I thought Adam looked the best of the night. He was having a great time, and the other stars loved talking to him. Even Miranda Lambert took his comments well, if you look at her twitter.

And, for you, Robin, to start calling people idiots because they support him is just rude. If you don't like him, that's fine, but to hate on him like that? Shows how small minded you are.

  • Robin 2 years ago

Molly - you are definitely an idiot. I didn't call "people" an idiot for supporting Adam. I called Denise an idiot because she didn't like my opinion of Adam and his love for trash and called ME an idiot.

  • Toto 2 years ago

Well Robin..instead to value a national treasure you trash it.He is going to conquer the world and he is going to represent America abroad,,they already love him!.....A Yankee is coming!!!

  • kumulus 2 years ago

I agree with Adam's picks, and really liked that he created "The Glambert Award" for GaGa - very appropriate. I thought he was spot on. Carrie's dress needed more shape - she has a great body and should wear something that flatters it. It needed a waist, or something, and since it was the Grammys, I think it would have been neat as a shorter, maybe mini-type, dress (straight skirt, not full), & keep the top the way it was. I think Adam was pretty brave to have Carrie on the "not-so-good" list as she IS beautiful, and a fellow Idol, too. I'd hate to have to put my friends or associates on that list. Also agree that Miranda's dress did look "prom-ish", and not the best quality.

I also thought Adam looked great, even with the Wyatt Earp tie - he's one of the few that could get by with it. He looked impeccable, and if you look at the close-up pictures of his suit, it is very well done re the sequins. Jay Manuel on E!'s Fashion Police had him as a best-dressed nominee! Go Adam!!

  • Victoria Parker 2 years ago

Adam did an excellent job for his first time!! I could not done it! He has style and taste....I did agree with his picks and hope the other celbs. will take it more serious and be more particular what they wear...after all, we are paying for it by buying their music and other things.....

People need to stop respoding to ROBIN so she can leave and go back to her trailer home!!

  • Angela Bisset 2 years ago

Adam, thank you for doing such a wonderful job on the red carpet and making COJO proud because you know you did! You made us all proud of a job well done! As for the haters such as Robin...well, there's no sense in feeding your tiny minded little self. Hate all you want but you'll never break a GLAMBERT! Once an Adam fan ALWAYS an Adam fan! GREAT JOB! Hope to see you rock it out again soon!
With lots of love and support!

  • Robin 2 years ago

Go buy his pathetic record. He needs some help there since he can't actually make multiple indviduals buy his albums, he'll need his mindless fans to buy multiple copies.

  • Omaha Reader 2 years ago

You go Adam! Love/admire this guy because he doesn't try to be somebody else. He's just be himself, and that's beautiful! Can't wait to see what he's going to do next... Keep up a good work, Adam!

  • cheryl 2 years ago

I want to say that Adam is 'Perfect' to me. I do, however, have a small comment about his style for himdelf at the Grammy's. Adam looks better when he does not pile his hair so high with the 'steeple' look. Like so many men, that pulling hair up to a point in the center is ridiculous looking to me. As far as Adam's talents, he can do whatever he has a mind to do, and do it better than anyone! He is the hottest man on the planet. His voice is iconic, so are his looks. I think Adam has a bit of a stubborn streak, which is fine! Live and Learn. I did not like Adam's "tie". Not 'him'! He could look better in a T-shirt and his great pants! Loved Pink, did not like Taylor Swift. Lady GAGA has an incredible voice! She seems very delicate to me!! Zac Brown Band was great. Black-eyed Peas stunk! Fergie needs to lose the others and go it alone. But I have to say that the only reason I HAD to watch the Grammy's ws to see Adam! I love, love, love Adam!! peace-love-light-hope-fun 4 ADAM!

  • grammakaren 2 years ago

Robin, I do not see the Question being, What do you think of Adam??? We do not care what you think of Adam... It was.. Do you agree with his choices of Fashion? YOU are not a nice person, if you dont like him, Dont watch or listen to him.. Thats more for the Rest of US who will be his Fans FOREVER!!!! I think he did fine for his 1st fashion pics!!!!

  • Victoria Parker 2 years ago

First of all...it is not a record!!...It is a CD..so who is the dumb one! He was gone gold..and that means a half of millions people are wrong and you are the only one right??..Leave and go back go your trailer home!!..you won't win!!!..too many Adam Lambert fans and holding strong!!

  • idolcritic 2 years ago

Adam looked gorgeous on the Red Carpet (best dressed guy for sure). He did a great job and was right on the money with his picks. Pink looked gorgeous. Hopefully, Adam will be performing next year and we won't have to suffer through another Taylor Swift performance.

  • Brenda 2 years ago

I love Adam & thought he did a great job..I do disagree with him about Carrie...she is beautiful & looked great to me. I did agree with him that Taylor looked great also..but her performance was horrible as usual..she sounds great on a cd but not live.

  • Bern3755 2 years ago

Adam has a very keen sense of fashion and he totally got all those right. Pink's dress was stunning, I picked her first up. I loved how her platinum hair matched the top part of her dress which then graduated down the pewter/grey colour chart. I loved Gaga's dress too, but think it kinda clashed with the yellow blond hair. She has far better wigs in her wardrobe to choose from am sure, the black eye make up was also a little too harsh for the dress.

    Adam rules,,,,,,,,,,

Robin-Adam's album is already within gold range by about 60,000 thousand last week. Kris has sold about half that and both will do fine. Adam's album is just now being released to other parts of the world. After all the shows like Ellen & Oprah plus the late nighters he is in demand. He sold out a concert for Feb 27 VERY quickly, which I think is a paid practice concert for his tour. Give him a then predict his demise.

  • Dana Martin 2 years ago

I DO AGREE. ADAM HAS GREAT STYLE AND HE IS SUCH A SWEETHEART.

  • Keri 2 years ago

The funny thing is that all Adam's picks for best and worst were mine too so Yes, I agree! But I am amazed at how smooth and professonal and funny he was, you would think he had dont this all his career! Great job Adam! But why wasnt he singing? Someone with his awesome talent should have been on that stage!

  • Pam 2 years ago

Agree totally with Adam's choices. He is so right that you really can't compare Gaga to anyone else ... she always makes a huge statement but in some other language. Love Lady Gaga and am intrigued by whatever she does! Pink was just stunning ... my favorite of the evening, and Adam looked gorgeous as usual. He did a great job as a correspondent. Hope to see him winning an award next year!

  • Winston 2 years ago

Robin, you are entitled to your opinion. That's what makes the world interesting, a wide diversity of people and opinions. However, it is not ok to spout erroneous facts. Adam's CD has gone gold in both the US and Canada, and is about to be released worldwide. To say he is not selling albums is wrong. His videos are the #1,#2, and #3 most popular videos on VH1, his single, 'Whataya Want From Me?', is #23 on the Hot 40 chart. And as far as living up to his hype-Adam didn't create that hype, and no young entertainer needs that kind of unrealistic expectations put on him at the beginning of his career. He has handled intense scrutiny and pressure with grace, dignity, and a sense of humor, and has shown himself to be a classy guy as well as an incredibly talented one. My opinion, of course.

  • Gini 2 years ago

I loved it when Adam called Tyler Swift a Glamazon because we are the real 'Glamazons' from Amazon.com. We all had a real laugh about it.

  • Dena 2 years ago

His own fashion is so sad though, I don't really understand why he thinks he's in a position to judge anybody else.

He's so boring. He's like Perez Hilton, except without the wit. I don't get why people are so interested in him.

  • Kate 2 years ago

Adam looked his usual fabulousness! He is so smart besides being a huge talent. He is a natural before the camera but prefer him to be on the stage singing. He sings better than anyone who appeared on the Grammys, seriously. What the heck was Jamie's Fox's sister doing there? The show was god-awful.
I also thought Carrie looked awful. The dress was too big for someone so tiny. It looked like drapes! It would have been cuter if it had been short above the knee with silver high Jimmy Choos to match those silver straps.

  • belle 2 years ago

Adam's credentials for this assignment come in part from how frequently HE is chosen as the best male on the red carpet. Before Idol, he dressed himself both in his personal life an in the theater, so he had ideas when Idol came along. Since then, he has enough cash to really be as fashion forward as he likes. He is usually chosen by the experts as the best, so clearly, he does have knowledge. Still, let's all be respectful here.

  • JoJo 2 years ago

I am a devoted Adam Lambert fan. Because of the out of this world voice. Because of his warm, congenial and gracious personality. Because of his talent for making people feel like the center of attention. I was a little sad that he took this job, though. Sure, he has great style sense and probably did a better job than any of the correspondents that have done fashion before him. But, please not at the Grammy's. He should not be making comments, even though mostly positive, about fellow singing artists. It just doesn't seem okay to me for him to talk about what they are wearing. The awards are about singing. He has always been careful not to criticize anyone's singing and is complimentary of everyone. So, why be a critic of singers' clothes? I think he did a good job overall, except that he should not have criticized Carrie's dress. Maybe I don't get the red carpet thing. Adam was neAdam, please just stick to singing and being a beautiful person!

  • Debbie 2 years ago

It just goes to show Adam can do almost anything, and do it well Great job on the Red Carpet

  • Angel 2 years ago

I agree with Adam that Miranda is the worst dressed. I noticed Carrie's ill fitted straps of neckline which didn't sit well. She usually looks fabulous but not on Grammy's and the AI finale. Lady Gaga is truly from her own fashion planet. She with Elton John and the astounding Pink performance saved Grammy. The worst was Taylor Swift's. I don't understand why she's a much awarded singer although she's an awesome girl. I loved the MJ tribute but MJ's singing overshadowed everyone on that stage. Just proves why he's an icon. I would have loved ADAM with Jennifer Hudson in that tribute.

  • Melanie 2 years ago

Adam doesn't take himself too seriously, and if Carrie or Miranda gave him a critique on his tie, hair or whatever, he would good heartedly laugh with them. "It ain't that deep." as he always says. I am always inspired by his positive outlook on life and his energy towards other people. He is infectious whether he is being interviewed, doing the interviewing, and of course SINGING. Can't wait for him to come in concert. Saw him last summer and he knocked everyone out with his amazing performance. Love you Adam!

  • Robin 2 years ago

Wow Winston - his CD just went Gold. How long has it been out now? With all his hype and the length of time it's been out, it should be over platinum by now. It's not. Go buy a CD.

  • imrah 2 years ago

To Dena, You dont get it? Adams popularity makes people jelous I get it. Adam has great sense of style, all other contestant on AI were pale compare to Adam. He is a worldwide superstar.
