'American Idol:' Adam Lambert catching Kris Allen on Billboard chart

For the first time Adam Lambert entered the Billboard Hot 100 with "Whataya Want From Me," he may be ready to pass "American Idol" winner Kris Allen on the chart. According to the latest numbers released on Thursday, Adam's hit single rose to #22 (its new peak on the chart) after finishing last week at #25. Allen can also celebrate going up a spot to #19, but he has still yet to match his peak of #18 from two weeks ago. Therefore, he is staying relatively constant.

Will either one of these singers break into the top five? It looks unlikely with their current songs, mainly because other songs like Rihanna's "Rude Boy" are currently sitting at the top of the charts despite only being on the radio for a matter of weeks. Adam and Kris, meanwhile, have been around for at least three months with each song. While you have to credit their staying power, eventually these songs will start to fade away in favor of new singles. (Then again, both of these singers managed to improve this week without making any sort of high-profile public appearances in America.)

How successful do you think Adam Lambert and Kris Allen will end up being on the Billboard chart? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more "American Idol" news.
