After a lengthy absence from the #1 spot on USA Today's "American Idol" single sales chart, Adam Lambert is now back on top -- except this time, it's with his new single "If Had You". Rising 4% over the past week (a modest number considering his recent gains), the song sold 35,000 copies -- bumping it past Carrie Underwood's recent hit "Undo It".
When you look at the sales figures across the board, this means that Adam is now over the 200,000 sales mark for this song. As for his other hit in "Whataya Want From Me", the song is still selling plenty of copies -- with another 16,000 downloads, it is inching ever closer to the 1.5 million sales mark.
The most impressive things with these numbers is that they are largely coming from casual fans -- most of the devoted "Glamberts" have already purchased "For Your Entertainment", and these are largely coming from people hearing the song and enjoying it.

Could you change 'lengthy' to '9 week' absence? Lengthy is not really the right word especially considering that many ppl on that list NEVER see the #1 spot! WWFM was #1 for 11 weeks when Undo It took over for 9 weeks (WWFM still remained on the list)...now IIHY is #1 (and WWFM is still #3). 9 weeks is not 'lengthy' and kind of implies that Adam 'disappeared' from the list for a period of time which is not true. Thanks.
I'll rather Adam sell more album than singles. My wish is for his album to be platinum by the end of the year.

I agree with you tess4Adam--US radio is so slow to play Adam's music and yet a lot of the cr-- that is put out today is played over and over and over until you just want to scream. And UK--once he gets over there and performs, you will see what you have been missing. There is a growing fan group over there. Still upset about the MTV awards--not that they set the bar for anything it is just that the same people get nominated for everything--Bieber, GAGA, and how is Adam less deserving than Eminem?
Japan fans through #operationIIHY managed to get the song played as background music at Lawson, one of the largest convenience stores in Japan, at 9pm tonight. There are about 40, 000 Lawson stores in Japan. It's a small step but a big victory for fans (since SonyJapan is MIA) Let's get this baby sold so Adam can come back to Japan again and again and again! =D
I still don't understand why radio stations don't play Adam's songs as much as they deserve. They pay other .......bad quality ones instead.

Since every song on Adam's album is spectacular, every song should be released as a single. Adam did a fantastic cover of Marc Bolan's '20th Century Boy' at one of his recent concerts, and once again proved why millions, and millions of people love him. I wish Marc Bolan was stil alive to hear Adam's great cover. After hearing Adam sing Marc's fun, sexy song it made me wish that Adam could play him in a movie. He would be perfect.

Could news in Canada my favourite pop station 101.5 Energy is playing IF I HAD YOU several times a day and it is #2 on their top 20. Now I have heard the single on 98.5 Virgin radio. Took a lot of emails and requests for this station, but they have responded. Congrats to these stations.

I have several Adam songs on my cell phone now...My Hubby's ring is FEVER and unknown callers are 'WWFM'. LOL...I hesitate answering my phone now so I can listen longer. The ENTIRE album is incredible and I wish ALLL of the songs had been released as singles so we could hear Adam more often on the radio.
I hope he has a million seller plus in IIHY. I am so sick of hearing the same songs on the radio. It's all about marketing. If you market Bieber and Swift, they're bound to do well. Adam has had alot of exposure now, but his persona is still in question with Americans. They don't like risks. They want safe and sweet.
I think Adam is very intelligent and he and his management obviously have a plan. Touring solo instead of opening for another "act" has paid off. I hope his next cd appeals to a larger fan base. Maybe he should include some heavier Rock. It would be good for him to attract a bit of a younger audience, not just women age 40 to 60.
Radio, Wake Up and Smell the Roses. I vast number of us are tired of same old, same old. Talking songs and music, and singers that sound exactly a like. We want fresh, new, exciting music that has passion and makes you feel something. We want to hear a voice that is beyond compare and drives us crazy because it is beyond worldly. It is like pulling teeth to get Adam's music on Radio. I am so sick of radio politics. DJ's and radio station's with prejudices. Enough with mediocre. Give us back real music again, namely Adam Lambert's music!!!

i bought all of his songs on itunes and 3 cds, For the past year adam is all i listen to. And his concerts are amazing.I went to 2 and going to another one next month:)
What I don't understand is calling Adam fans Glamberts like it's a bad name. Talking about your reference to the Glamberts already doing their thing, and now it's the regular normal people. Not a quote, but you get the idea. Since when did it become problematic to be someone's fan? One thing should always be made clear about Adam. It's about the voice!! Yes, it helps to have the looks, intelligence and personality, but the voice is what grabs the fans.
I can assure you that Adam's audience doesn't just consist of women age 40-60 as someone said. At his concerts, you'll find young children, teens, men, women, gays, lesbians, young, old, disabled, black and brown. He has a huge international fan base. His concerts are a big happy joyous party. Adam's appeal is broad. Highly recommend seeing Adam this concert tour if you possibly can. It's an experience of a lifetime.
Get this...our radio station here in Hawaii, the one that's PROMOTING Adam's concerts in October, doesn't even play IIHY! WTH?? They barely even play WYWFM anymore...something is really wrong here. SIGH...
agree with kepi, I to, live in Honolulu. Heard him once in the past week on the radio, until then I've just been listening to his c.d.. No wounder people haven't heard of him, they don't get to hear him on the radio. Hope this station isn't owned by some Baptist church ! The other songs they do play are just boaring, and they all sound the same. Some are just plain awful. So what is up with the airplay? Adam would be blowing everyone away if more people could hear him !!!!
I email my local radio stations daily requesting IIHY. Since they haven't put it on their playlist, I now listen to z100. Z100 plays both his singles. In fact, four songs ago, IIHY was played. Some stations are still playing WWFM but not IIHY. Don't forget to vote for his video on vh1.
I may be one of those "women between 40-60" but it doesn't mean that I'm dead! I've seen them all - beatles, stones, who, even duran duran and adam is the most unique entertainer to come down the pike in a long, long time. glamberts don't need the radio. we know where to find adam. rock on, baby!

I live in Tampa, Florida, and I am beginning to hear Adam more on the radio, just have to listen to the right stations, glad to hear that the tour is going so well, how often does a new artist start out as a headliner rather than opening for someone else?, shows how much confidence his label has in him, and why not, he is absolutely amazing, can't imagine life without listening to him everyday whether its on the radio, listening to his cd, watching You Tube, etc.etc. I am looking forward to "Sleepwalker coming out, love the song, and going to a concert. I am one of those 40-60 year old women that someone referred to, but I think,... I know that his audience is much wider range than that. When I met him last December at a Jingle Ball there were young teens to us old ladies (just kidding), and men even waiting for hours just to be near Adam. Thank you Adam for sharing your glam, glitter, light and love, and most of all for singing to us.
I predict that Adam will metamorphsize into the rock star he's becoming and leave the Pop stuff behind.......his future is still ahead of him and so is the real excitement. What a singer!

WWFM released in late Feb and IIHY released in July = 2 number 1 singles in 6 months. Adam is doing just fine, Matt ! and he keeps readers for you too as a by-product.) I know he has a number of other tracks on his album that can be hit singles too. Which one do you think will be next & should he be a smart businessman and change the pronoun in Fever ? Lots artists only use word 'you' not he or she.
Sorry people but rock does not sell. Some people are just so clueless. The only rock acts that really make it in the US are classic rock - the oldtimers. Adam should stick with pop. The dude can sing his face off! His fan base is growing and includes more and more males who just appreciate mad talent.
Adam has an interesting voice and is into theatrics and makes for an interesting show, if your into his style and music which everybody I know isn't because they feel he is not genuine and fake, so they aren't going to buy his music or go to his concerts.
