Adam Lambert is being forced into doing something that very few artists like to do: asking his fans to level off on their radio requests. The "American Idol" runner-up posted a message on his Twitter page on Monday, referencing a specific radio station in Toronto, Ontario:
"Hey guys!!! I looooove the support and Passion you all put into your radio requests, however Canada's Z103 is being...pestered by too many "pushy" emails. Let's make sure we don't bother them to the point where they don't wanna play my music!! Thanks!"
It's likely that Z103 is getting so many requests since Adam recently did a publicity tour in Toronto prior to the Grammy Awards. However, this is not the first time that Adam has went to his Twitter to ask for his fans to take it easy on requests. A good bit a passion can go a long way -- but this is proof that sometimes it can have an adverse effect.

I find it very odd that a radio station would complain about the amount of requests they are getting. Isn't that their JOB?!?!?! Obviously, they are not listening to their viewers. If the public wants more music by Adam, then the station should play it. The viewers will go to different stations if Z103 doesn't play requests.
IMO, the radio stations should never complain receiving too many requests. Don't they play the most requests songs? However, I think it is probably the way fans are requesting songs that annoy them. These emails may be to pushy when fans haven't heard the song to be played yet, and they might've lost patience. Fans, please be patience!
I agree with the first poster. Why should radio stations complain? What if Adam has more fans than the average recording artist, wouldn't that account for more fan activity? There are still homophobic stations that are not playing Adam's music. Should they be ignored? Some of the fans do not like the way RCA handled the Fantasy Springs concert and calling it an unconfirmed rumor. Even the amount of Adam's album sales is in dispute. Many believe that well over 500,000 have been sold.
These are Adam fans, and this isn't the first time there's been a complaint :( Of COURSE the Radio Stations are going to be annoyed with the amount of requests, come on now this happened with a lot of people that came out of Idol, like David Cook and David Archuleta. I remember how the fans were over requesting and how the radio stations got annoyed as well.
The Fantasy Springs “Official Glamily Reunion” sold out faster than anything they ever had at Fantasy Springs. Adam's fans are just more active then most. Radio stations should just get used to it or the Glamberts will probably start their own radio stations. Many of them are well educated and have a lot of money, so the radio stations should watch who they offend.

If you have a handful of crazy spammers block them from your email/twitter. Why take your issue to Adam? What is he doing? Making music that people want to hear real bad. How dare he! Or maybe it's just a way for your station to get a bunch of exposure, you got Adam to tweet it and now there will be articles to follow.
@Lorie. Who are these radio stations offending, the people who have been spamming? Wow, that's not being offensive, that's giving them a reality check IMO. They aren't the ones in charge here. LOl @ your comment saying that they can start their own radio stations, riiiight, sure. They aren't going to get used to ANYTHING, they are going to quit playing Adam, but I guess some people can't get it through their heads that this is obviously hurting Adam :(
Anyone who is on the internet a lot knows that spamming radio stations is a BIG NO NO now, I just thought that was obvious from the start.
If people request Adam Lambert, it is because they want to hear more Adam Lambert. I thought radio stations play what their audience wants to hear.
But these are FANS OF ADAM, and the radio stations know that and it CLEARLY annoys them. I don't see how its so hard to understand that, and I'm an Adam fan and 100% behind him. I just don't understand some of these fans who are clearly hurting his career in some way with this spamming, why can't it just stop?

First of all, there could be 5,000 people or more in one area who request for Adam ONCE and would taht be considered spamming? How would they know that others are requesting too? Do you mean to tell me that other artists arent requesting too much? Then why do we listen to the same song every 5 min? Lady Ga Ga, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber to name a few do not have the fan site activity that Adam does. Adam's monthly traffic doubles that of Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. Adam's best month had over 700,000 people while Lady Ga Ga's best month was about 250,000. In fact Adam's traffic outside of the US is greater than what Swift and Bieber have in the US. That being said radio stations that are annoyed should post request rules. If it not just a few overzealous fans and it is the quantity of fans, I do not believe that the station has a legitimate complaint. Adam may have been slowed by the AMA controversy but make no mistake by the time his album is released globally he will be one of the biggest stars in the world. I have been researching for my soon to be released book and I have seen the data. The radio stations need to brace themselves.

Okay, what I don't understand is the radio stations doesn't play Adam's song at all. I heard Kris Allen sucky song LLWD about 20 times air play but NONe on Adam. I've sent a request ONE time, and the replied is it's been Noted. Have I heard them play the friggin' song? NOPE. Until now it's been 3 months ago and I'm still waiting. I have been changing the channel to see if I hear Adam songs play at all but no lucks. :(
So how can the radio staions complaints, they should be happy that Adam song is very popular. Perhaps the truth is they NEVER play Adam's song, and that's why the fans are irritated.
I think the truth of the matter is the Radio Stations never nor wanted to give Adam's song an Air time. So what the fans do if they do not hear any of Adam's song? Send a request right? The radio Stations actually asking the listener to send them a request or call the station if they want to hear their favorite Artists. They shouldn't whine about it, they should be Thrilled and that would make their ratings sky rocketed. But common the Truth is they are Bias when it comes to Adam's song. We know, you know and everybody in the World knows that Adam is one of the GREAT singer and we just like a fair share of the Air Time for our favorite singer. Then you hear those singers that out of tune with the sucky songs but yet they spin them a dozen times within an hour air,so how can you justify that? For example the "Time For Miracles" is a Rock Classic and I thought Adam did a fantastic job but have I heard a spin on this song? NEVER :(

What is with these radio stations? I remember in the old days when we would call in and request a song not only would we heard the song but our name as well...made the efforts worthwhile and we would continued to listen to that station but I do not know what is going on now?? Makes me think that the stations are "afraid" to make the first move in their area or people would complain or stop listening to their station. Playing the same songs over and over again gets old and we change radio stations anyway.. Tell you what might happen is that the fans are going to get so tired of the nonsense and probably have an outside protest that will reach the tv news station in their area or maybe a "riot" may start?? I know it is far fetch but people do strange things to get things to happen!!

I think it is just a handful of people being inconsiderate and agree with some posts here that the stations should just ban the abuser/s in question - if possible. Taking it out on Adam is just a power control by the radio station.

Adam will be a huge star and sooner or later, stations will have to play his music or be seen as "out of touch". In the meantime, I have only requested a handful of times from my local radio station or occasionally online to stations that solicit for outside requests. But really, I don't listen to radio much anymore because they play the same few songs to death. There are CD's and internet on demand selections to get my Adam and other other personal favorites music fix. Don't even listen to radio much anymore.
I heard his song on my local station lastnight but my friend Terry's won't play it & she's red hot! I don't get it. If they would just play the music or be up front and say we don't have his album or whatever the reason maybe they wouldn't get bothered! You would think it's simple but I guess it's not. I would really like to have a talk with just one DJ who acts that way and find out just what the problem is. Why is it so hard to just do your f**king job and play the damn music? What? I just do not understand these complaints of spamming?? Bottom line for me is that it makes NO sense to punish an artist for the behavior of others because the artist has NO control over what others do. Moreover, it makes no sense to punish an artist and his/her fans who by not playing his/her music. Because here's a basic tenet of capitalism: I want money, customer has money, customer wants X product, therefore I sell X product and I make money. We all win that way.
Finally, I simply do not believe that Adam Lambert is the ONLY artist out there with over-zealous fans. Adam fan Larry Flick on Sirius made it clear that he had problems with some other artist's fans and yet he is the ONLY dj who has spoken about other fandoms. At a certain point, one has to wonder why none of the other djs/radio programmers make mention of other problematic fandoms, only Adam Lambert's.
I agree with a lot of these posts because it is very frustrating when you are a fan and want to hear your favorite singer's songs on the radio and the stations don't play it. It does feel like Adam is being blacklisted and punished. Plus, shouldn't a business listen to their customers requests and try to make them happy? Seriously, with all the crap that is the music industry is producing nowadays, it is ridiculous that they refuse to play Adam's songs which are all great, by the way.
Well..I'll tell ya, I'm here in Ontario, just outside of Ottawa. I have heard Adam's song on one radio station, and it's not played very often. The station in my town does not play Adam at all, yet I hear Kris' song about 10 times per day. I sent a thank you note to the Ottawa station for playing Adam's song, and I have requested it a few times since. What in heck do we have to do to get stations playing Adam's songs? To add further insult, I work in a retail store where we have the local radio station on. At Christmas we get special cd's to play in the store. The cd's consist of about 65% Christmas music with a variety of other songs thrown in, mostly pop songs. Well...what did I hear on the cd from head office? You guessed it Kris' songs, but no Adam. So not only did we have the local station playing Kris' song, we also had the cd from head office with it on there. Yes, I got a double dose of Kris's music over the Christmas season. I'm happy for Kris, but what about Adam?
I dont get it a request is a request ,you are supposed to play the music, why set up the forms , tweets or phone lines. Sorry , but I think there is some kind of bias here, and from the music industry ? Kinda shocking to me ,its their job!!!Music is supposed to be cutting edge,but somehow we now have pablum, drivel , whatever, no wonder people are making their own playlists etc. This should actually be a wake up call for DJ's,Music directors why not honor your listeners wishes?? If the radio stations would play more Adam songs, then they would get less requests. When I listen to the radio all I hear are the same old songs being played over and over. Usually when a new track is released by an artist it is played to the point of overkill. But not Adam. Why is that?
ADAM's video WWFM is #2 on VH1 Countdown but you would think they never heard of ADAM LAMBERT ... #2 should get more air play than #10 or any other than #1 last week he was #1 same thing ... what's the good of VOTING for these songs & videos if they NEVER play them anyway ... all you see/hear is rap .. hip hop .. over & over ... I don't even own a radio, so I don't speak from that point of view. My brother is in the music business and he told me that radio stations play the songs that record companies pay them to play. It seems to me 19/RCA needs to better market Adam's music so that nonsense like this is never a problem for anyone. Adam's fans should not have to beg their radio stations to play the music they want. How silly. If they're playing the same stuff over and over again, they're getting paid to do it. Bet on it.
Well I call in because I listen for 4 hours every am and you know what if I don't call in I don't hear Adam's song played. So I call 93.7 KRQ and have to ask them to play it for me. Then usually it gets played once. So I only call once a day but for me I only hear it once a day. I think there is something seriously messed up about that.
This is crazy. It used to be if there were a lot of people requesting a song, the radio played it. Obviously this radio station is not putting his song in any kind of continuous rotation. Why? Adam's album went gold. If you want requests to stop, then just play his song. The only ridiculous thing happening here is that a radio station is complaining that it has listeners and it's listeners want to hear Adam Lambert. Play his music.
I hear Adam several times a day on local radio and I only listen for an hour in the am and night. He's video is on Much Music, English and French channels, so I'm pretty pleased. I wish I didn't have to "evacuate the dance floor" quite so often, though.
I would suggest the radio station deal with it, people are going to do this kind of thing.

Back in my day we pestered resistant radio stations a few times hourly to request the Beatles. There were at least 30 of us, on a mission. The radio stations began to play the Beatles often and the rest is history. I am sure it was happening all over the country. I think that the radio industry has not learned how to cope with technology and it could be that they are used to be in control of who gets played. They often resent American Idol alumni because that garner a large following of excited fans. They just need to automate the process and quit making it so personal. I heard that Bieber was also banned from radio for the same thing. Radio may soon become a thing of the past.
I think that radio stations should deal with this themselves. Why should they be irritated by fans requesting for Adam's songs!?
There is an agenda to PUSH Kris and put Adam on HOLD. If not, Adam will drown out Kris' CD. It is to legitimize Kris' win and make money out of him before he fades away. Because Adam will be big, no doubt about it. If the producers would not do it, there's no way Kris would forge ahead with his career and AI would lose face and be the laughing stock for their anomalous voting system that gives Kris the win. What else is there any reason for playing Kris over and over if not PAYOLA?
What did the radio stations do when the Beatles or Elvis or Michale Jackson came to town? Ask them to keep their fans away? Don't radio stations have ways to control their calls? If the radio stations would play new artists songs rather than the same old songs over and over this wouldn't happen. ALready this morning I have heard LadyGaga's Papparazi and Poker Face even though she has a new single, Bad Romance, out. Why? They could have played Adam's song one of those times. Britnes Spears Womanizer, John Mayer's Waiting on the World to Change? I Just don't understand. No wonder fans are frustrated. Adam has over 300,000 Twitter followers and the largest fan site of all RCA artists. So of course there are going to be lots of requests.
When they don't get requests, they don't play the songs, now it is too many requests. Maybe there are just a lot of fans who really want to hear his music
I totally agree with Millie. Maybe we all don't REALLY get how annoying people can be with the requesting (I truly do believe that some of the things fans do are beyond belief for most of us) BUT why would they punish the artist?! Like they have any control over the people acting crazy! Deal with it and play the songs! I am lucky in that WWFM is starting to pick up on my local station, but LLWD is DEFINITELY getting way more airplay still. I like that song tbh but not nearly as much as all of FYE.
@Anne You are absolutely right. It is an agenda to legitimize Kris. That is one of the reasons I wrote my book. I am having the final touches on the cover art completed today and it will be out this week. Without a doubt Arkansas brought in Kris's win and Adam is still paying the price. The person with more fans cant get more votes in because of the system constraints. That is why the one million votes separating Adam and Kris on the night of the Final Three gave a misrepresentation of the margin of actual fans.
