Last week, Adam Lambert was nearing gold status; now, we pretty much know that it will happen over the course of the next seven days. According to the latest sales numbers, the "American Idol" runner-up saw 15,000 copies of "For Your Entertainment" sold during the past week, a decline of 22% from the week before but still a jump above what he was selling prior to his appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
With these numbers in mind, it puts Adam over 492,000 albums sold. Therefore, it would take an unlikely 50% drop in album sales to keep him from reaching the gold certification.
For Kris Allen, meanwhile, the singer is celebrating a much smaller milestone: his self-titled debut had hit the 250,000 sales mark. Although Allen's single "Live Like We're Dying" has generated more play on the radio, his sales have paled in comparison to Adam's thanks to a smaller core fanbase.

Thanks for the update on the album sales. Is Kris Allen doing anything to get his CD moving? I mean he did Idol and then what? The NYE thing. That's all I've heard of him. Adam Lambert on the other hand, holy cow can this guy sing! Love, LOVE his 3 music videos. The stuff he did for VEVO is so fun and he is rocking the daytime tv interviews. Love his CD. The instrumentals on his CD are crazy and whoever his drummer and guitar players are they are seriously good! His CD will go platinum mark my words! It is too good not to.
Matt....thanks for giving Adam such nice reviews. He is such a nice guy. Articulate, respectful, kind, genuine and honest, not to mention vocally and theatrically talented. People just won't leave him alone! Adam is a star....no doubt about it and it doesn't hurt that he's HOT, charming, charismatic and his eyes are mesmerizing!!!

I think Kris needs to put out another single and that will help album sales and I think he's just that guy.. the guy that comes up from behind.. people will buy it... he's just quiet and he has actually done a LOT to promote it... it's just that he's in that genre that doesnt skyrocket like adam's. adam is great too, but honestly he hasnt skyrocketed nearly as much as people thought he would and i think that is because he is being force fed to America. once that wears off he'll be fine too.. ya know what they are both doing great though.. im proud of both of them.. they'll both be wonderful and have great careers

Matt - is there any data on the speed with which previous Idol winners and 2nd place finishers reached gold and then platinum?
It seems, with all the hype about last season's Idol, these 2 CDs are inching along.... painstakingly slowly.
I don't wanna get into a battle here, I'm looking for actual figures.

David Archeleta was 580,210 (sold 14,000 that week, so was gold likely sometime in early December 2008)
Adam shines. He's getting better and better by the day. There's nothing boring about Adam and will never be. HE WAS BORN WILD, smart charming and AMAZING talented.
I hope he will do some concerts and will speed up the sales so that ~ in May will be platinum.

This article doesn't mention that Kris's LLWD single is approaching 800,000 in digital download sales. This is a major part of Kris's success, and I can't help but get the impression that the author of this article is purposely leaving this information out to make Adam seem more impressive.
Adam is already Gold in Canada but unfortunately international sales don't count. I predict FYE will go at least platinum and be a huge hit worldwide.
I'm sure they'll both do well. The thing I hate most about American Idol is this constant pitting contestants against each other. One poster even posted last seasons sales. Can we say lame. It's tiring. I'm happy for Adam that he has gone gold in two countries. I'm happy for Kris that his single has gone gold. I'm happy for them all...jeez...it seems like people who watch American Idol are bitter ugly people who just can't be happy.

I have Adam, Kris and Allison's cd's. Adams is the only one where I love all the songs. Guess I didn't help the "who's going to outsell who" comparison, but they are all friends. I wanted a set of my favorite 3. Don't think I'll buy Gokeys. I'm just not into country all that much. I hope they all go Platimum. (But Adam first - hehe)
Wish the sales count was for all sold, including international. I'd love to know the final count when all countries have a chance to purchase Adam's cd.

ADAM FYE hasn't been released in a lot of countries yet ... worldwide promotion tour starts in March or April ... after that he wants to do a US tour ... they (ADAM & Kris + Allison) have a concert on Feb. 12th in NYC ... album sales should pick up some for all 3 after that .. then ADAM has a gig at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio CA on Feb. 27th ... don't know too much about Kris & Allison ... just follow ADAM at his fan sites ... lots of info. He'll probably go GOLD in the next week if he keeps up the way he has in sales. Hope all 3 do well.
Adam will go Platinum after the release of another single or 2 from the CD and receives more radio airplay. All the songs on Adam's CD are great and unique in their own way. There are only 3 songs on Kris' album that I like that much. They are both beautiful people, friends and supportive of each other. I haven't seen much about Adam's video hitting #1 on VH1 last Saturday. That is really a plus too ... but nothing on his website about it the last time I looked.
If adam releases If I had you and Pick U Up He will easily go Platinum.
As a Glambert, I wholeheartedly understand Adam's "model." However, don't try to use that as a weapon against him or us. Some people are expessively, downright rude, crude and mean to Adam. Someone has to stand up for him. How about this proposal, Peace and Love? Why don't you tell the people who don't have something nice to say about Adam not to say anything at all.
@peace and love, great comment, as a Glambert I really uphold the Adam model, and it saddens me that many do use that as a weapon against Adam and his fans, all fans of different artists have their rude and disturbing fans, it is not one sided at all and to project that or paint one group with the same brush is so ridiculous and narrow, it truely shows the nastiness in said person. Adam has 10 times more traffic on his official fan site than Kris. Almost half of Adam's traffic is from international fans. What that means is that when Adam's album is released internationally he may very well double his current sales rather quickly. Kris does not have an international draw. The Philippines is the only place that has any interest in Kris other than Arkansas. I believe that Adam's popularity in Europe will dive Adam's popularity higher in the US. Rather quickly Adam could reach the superstar status that Simon predicted.

I'm sorry to say that Kris' venue in the Philipines is a very small one. Adam is huge in the Philippines more than Kris and when Adam comes it will be in a much larger venue beccause the fans will sure to overflow. Singapore is also all for Adam. The AI producers let Kris go ahead first in these two countries because it will be embarrassing if he comes after Adam. He will not be able to command the same crowd.
Let me just say here: There was NO clamor for Kris to come from fans. We're just serve the platter without ordering.

Kris's sales are HALF of Adam's in a much shorter period of time. Goes to show the hicks in the bible belt truly were rigging the voting with their stupid cell phone tricks and voting blocks. Look it up, it happened. They were thumping those bibles and trying to keep someone gay from winning. That's why the show can be a joke at times. That said, I did not like his 1st performance after the show however. It was disgusting. But on Idol he was the best. Sadly the album doesn't seem to have the best songs or truly show his singing, so I may not buy it even though I voted for him. Hey. I voted for Kelly Clarkson and got her 1st CD, but after that I didn't buy the rest due to the continual negative themes. I'm just keeping it truthful. I'm on the fence with buying the album. hmmm..
What the bloody crap are Adam fans trying to spin? Kris's single has already hit gold sometimes ago and will reach platinum soon. It's a well-known fact that the sparkle cows are buying multiple 40-50 copies of their "rock god" album to pump up his sales. In fact, you can find photos evidence all over the net. Also, the bitch sparkle cow called Anne can stop spinning lies about Kris's Asia tour attendence. I'm from Singapore, so STOP insulting Singaporeans' taste in music. We are more for Kris Allen than that gay pornstar. For everyone's info, his Asian tour, including Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore, has garnered over 20K people in attendence.
