Adam Lambert has spent the majority of the past month outside of the country, but the "American Idol" runner-up is still finding a way to sell some albums for his debut "For Your Entertainment." According to the latest sales numbers courtesy of USA Today, Adam's album pulled in sales of 8,000 in the past week. While that is a far cry from what most artists do during their debut week, it is still impressive for an album that has been in stores for three months. As a matter of fact, it is an increase of 6% from the week before.
What is the reason behind the increase? Considering that Adam is currently is Sweden promoting his music, we have to attribute it primary to the airplay he is receiving for "Whataya Want From Me." The singer's total right now in terms of album sales is 578,000, which is tops by far in terms of "American Idol" alum from this past season. (Winner Kris Allen is a distant second.)
Do you own Adam Lambert's "For Your Entertainment," and why do you think the album is continuing to sell so well? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more of the latest "American Idol" news.

I think the album is doing so well because people are finally looking beyond issues like his sexuality and his unique look and are finally admitting what is undeniable--the man may be the most vocally skilled artist of our generation. It is only a matter of time before world domination! :) Thank you, Mr. Carter, for your well-written pieces about Adam Lambert. It is obvious you do your research.
The success of WWFM must be a contributing factor. He has been out of the country so he's had no tv appearances and no press to speak of unless you intentionally google his name.
Though that still might not explain it. Kris's single is doing well but for whatever reason it's not generating CD sales.
Hmmm it is rather puzzling. I was expecting a drop this week.
I tend to agree with 'Cassandra in Kansas City'. I think the initial hoopla about Adam's sexuality and look has died down considerably. Now, at least I hope this is the case, people are actually listening to the music and realizing what a talented singer he is. It should have been that way from the start. I wish him continued success. Oh, and yes, I do own the CD. I can't say that there is a song on it that I don't like. That's rare to me. Usually I buy a CD and only listen to one or two tracks because I don't like all the songs. There's a song, at least for me, for every mood I'm in. There isn't one genre; which I find most appealing. I hope his future music is as diversified.
Love Adam. Maybe people in the U.S. who weren't in the first wave of die-hard fans are finally starting to get it. People certainly seem to love him internationally, wherever he stops down there are fans waiting. And there are so many incredible songs on the album (that I prefer to the singles, actually) that aren't even getting radio play. Broken Open and Soaked in particular are gorgeous slow ballads. Hope this album reaches platinum.
