As if "American Idol" season nine contestant Casey James wasn't already oh, so dreamy, on Tuesday Casey showed viewers his deeper side with a phenomenal, emotionally-driven spin on a John Lennon classic. Honestly, this was one of the most amazing performances we have seen from Casey, and if he can keep it up, he could become a season nine favorite. Even Simon is coming around to his side!

Father/daughter team Steve and Allie eliminated from 'The Amazing Race' 16 on episode nine

For the season nine Top 9 performance show on Tuesday the contestants were challenged to sing John Lennon and Paul McCartney songs.

The performances

Crystal Bowersox - "Come Together"

  • Randy - Solid performance but not really her best
  • Ellen - Running out of ways to tell her she is amazing; Really thought she made the song current
  • Kara - One of her favorite Crystal performances; Loved that she was a little less serious
  • Simon - Could definitely hear that performance on the radio

Lee Dewyze - "Hey Jude"

  • Randy - Another hot performance; Loved the bag pipe player
  • Ellen - Loved the performance; Loved how confident he seemed tonight
  • Kara - Some good moments but also a few off moments; Can hear him on the radio
  • Simon - Wished there had been no bag pipe player

Didi named first Top 10 finalist eliminated from 'American Idol' season nine

Andrew Garcia - "Can't Buy Me Love"

  • Randy - Solid performance but not jumping up and down; A little corny at times
  • Ellen - Perfect song choice for him; A lot of fun; Loved it
  • Kara - Didn't feel like she saw anything new from him this week
  • Simon - Felt the band overpowered the arrangement and made the performance old fashioned and corny

Casey James - "Jealous Guy"

  • Randy - Loved the sensitive side; Really heartfelt
  • Ellen - Best performance to date because it was so soulful; Beautiful arrangement; Really moved by the performance
  • Kara - This performance showed how deep Casey can go; Still thinks he can go a little deeper
  • Simon - Best performance of the night (with two performers left); Saw a completely different side of him; Very impressed with Casey

Aaron Kelly - "Long and Winding Road"

  • Randy - Very sleepy; Would've been better if it was made more original and more upbeat
  • Ellen - Felt like a long and winding song
  • Kara - Every week feels like the same performance; Wants something more up tempo from him
  • Simon -  Old fashioned; Boring; Really should've taken some risks and researched the song more

'Boston' Rob taken out by Russell and his followers on episode seven of 'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains'

Michael Lynche - "Eleanor Rigby"

  • Randy - Certain parts didn't work but overall good; Could definitely be a song on his record
  • Ellen - Incredible; Loved it
  • Kara - Vocals were amazing; Performance was like fire; Sold the story; Loved how committed he was to the story; Definitely made the song relevant and commercial
  • Simon - Felt it was too much like something you'd see in a musical; Too over the top

Siobhan Magnus - "Across the Universe"

  • Randy - Sleepy; Loved seeing Siobhan's tender side
  • Ellen - Love how different she made the song
  • Kara - Vocals were very good; Seemed too polite and restrained for Siobhan
  • Simon - Definitely stronger than last week; Loves how unpredictable she is

Katie Stevens - "Let It Be"

  • Randy - Best performance ever
  • Ellen - A perfect example of changing it just enough to be your own without disrespecting the original artist; No way she will in the bottom three this week
  • Kara - Amazing confidence; Never looked or sounded better
  • Simon - Finally got it right tonight

Shannen Doherty named first celeb eliminated from 'Dancing with the Stars' season 10

Tim Urban - "All My Lovin'"

  • Randy - Really loved Tim's new hair; Good "Tim" performance
  • Ellen - Perfect song choice for Tim; Second best performance he has done
  • Kara - Likes that he is taking their criticisms to heart and making things better
  • Simon - Thought he did really well with the song; Liked that there were no gimmicks, just Tim and a guitar; Song suited his voice

Next episode (Wednesday, April 7, 2010): Another contestant is eliminated from the competition; Rihanna performs
