'American Idol' 2014 results: Who made the top 13?

With two nights of decidedly awkward and uncomfortable Rush Week action in the history books, "American Idol" 2014 got down to business Feb. 20 on FOX as the results of the season's first nationwide vote were tabulated and the identities of the top 13 contestants were at long last revealed.

With long-time "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest at the mic and show judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. looking on, 10 contestants earned automatic trips to the live shows based on the vote results. The lucky group included Malaya Watson, Ben Briley, Emily Piriz, Alex Preston, Jessica Meuse, Dexter Roberts, Caleb Johnson, Majesty Rose, MK Nobilette, and Sam Woolf.

With 10 spots taken and just three up for grabs, Lopez explained that five of the 10 remaining hopefuls would be given the chance to sing for their respective lives, with the judges responsible for choosing who would move on as so-termed wild card selections and who would head home.

The lucky five given another chance at competition life were C.J. Harris, Jena Irene, Spencer Lloyd, Bria Anai, and Kristen O'Connor. After each performed and the judges deliberated, Irene was the first to join the top 13, followed by O'Connor and Harris. The seven hopefuls sent home included Lloyd, Bria Anai, Emmanuel Zidor, George Lovett, Malcolm Allen, Briana Oakley, and Marialle Sellars.

"American Idol" 2014 resumes Feb. 26 with the top 13 performance show.
