"American Idol" 2013 returns to FOX on March 13 as the top 10 take part in the so-themed "music of American Idols" week. Each contestant will perform a song previously sung by any former "AI" winner, from season one champ Kelly Clarkson through 2012's victor Phillip Phillips. Although most of the finalists have tweeted excitement over performance night, at least one enters the evening with question marks surrounding her health.
Rising country artist and Tenn. native Janelle Arthur, 22, conveyed a concerning message to followers on March 12 when she tweeted "Had to go to the dr today:(.. But I'm going to be better by tomorrow. Prayers please!" Though she didn't elaborate further on her condition, she added another related tweet later in the day thanking fans for their support with "I love all of you thank you for your prayers and encouragement. You are why I do this."
Though the contestants' song choices remain tightly under wraps heading into performance night, it seems likely that Arthur would select a Carrie Underwood tune, given her country roots and tone. Additionally, she seems comfortable with Underwood's music, and sang the Randy Travis tune "I Told You So," which was covered by Underwood for her 2007 release "Carnival Ride," to good reviews during Hollywood week.
The "American Idol" 2013 top 10 performance show, featuring Arthur, Angie Miller, Burnell Taylor and the rest of the finalists, airs March 13 on FOX. The results show, which will feature perfomances by Bon Jovi and Phillips, will follow March 14.
