'American Idol' 2013: Top 10 revealed

The top ten "American Idol" contestants for season 12 were revealed during the first live results show airing March 7, 2013. This season, "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest was the only person privy to the top 10 voting results and he alone was responsible for dishing out the good news. Seacrest revealed Idol's top 10 with an exciting new twist.

The "American Idol" top 10 reveal started with the guys. All ten young men were gathered in a room backstage and Seacrest announced one contestant's name that had made it into the top 10. At that point Seacrest and the overjoyed contestant walked out front and stood before a closed door. The doors opened and the contestants family, friends, fans and the "Idol" judges as well were surprised with the news that that contestant had made it into the top 10.

Each "American Idol" competitor then performed a victory song in celebration of having made it to the top 10. "Idol" judges Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey were not giving out criticism this evening, they were just observing and sharing their thoughts on why each contestant deserved being chosen.

When Seacrest had revealed the five boys who had made the top 10, he then gathered the girls and the process continued. These 10 "American Idol" contestants will perform in this summer's tour. In addition, a wild card was added meaning one person that has been eliminated will be chosen to go on Idol's summer tour as well.
