"American Idol" went live on March 5, 2013 and America voted for the first time this season. Tonight the 10 girls who survived sudden death last week performed for a place in Idol's top 10 of 2013. While 10 girls competed, only 5 will make it through to the next level of competition. Which 5 will stay?
American Idol's top performances for March 5, 2013:
Angie Miller performed "Never Gone". A good song choice considering it's a hit by former "American Idol" contestant, Colton Dixon. Miller, like Dixon, has a unique style so the song fit her like a glove. Miller is a strong performer and her vocals are simply amazing. Angie will definitely make it to the top 10 and could quite possibly win the "Idol" crown.
Kree Harrison chose to sing a Faith Hill tune, "Stronger" and her performance was absolutely beautiful. Harrison has been an "American Idol" fan favorite since day one and it's understandable why. There is just something about her that people can relate to. Harrison is a "no frills" entertainer meaning she keeps her wardrobe simple, her make-up minimal and unpretentiously sings. I like that.
Amber Holcomb performed "I Believe In You and Me", by Whitney Houston. Holcomb has been battling a lack of confidence thus far on "American Idol" but tonight she came out on stage a poised, confident young lady and it definitely came through in her vocals. This girl has a set of pipes! Whitney Houston would be proud.
Aubrey Cleland sang Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" and the "Idol" judges loved it. Randy Jackson thought Cleland had a "Rihanna vibe" going on and Mariah Carey thinks that Aubrey has "multi-platinum potential," and "could be someone very big in the industry." They're both right.
Candice Glover performed John Legend's "Ordinary People" and once again blew the audience away with her astonishing vocals. The "American Idol" judges gave her the honor of a standing ovation and I must say it was well deserved. Idol Judge, Randy Jackson hit the nail on the head when he commented, "You're one of the best singers in this competition."
The five girls who make it through to American Idol's top 10 is squarely in the hands of voters. However, based on tonight's performances and "Idol" judges comments, these are my predictions. Feel free to leave your choices in the comment box below.
Aubrey Cleland
Angie Miller
Amber Holcomb
Candice Glover
