'American Idol' 2013 top 10 advance, earn praise from 'AI' alumni (Photos)

The "American Idol" 2013 March 7 results show saw the field of hopefuls trimmed from 20 to just 10, leaving a talented pool of five girls and five guys to vocally duke it out for the grand prize. In addition to an extended chance at stardom, the finalists also earned the congratulations and well-wishes of several "AI" alumni.

The girls who advanced to the top 10 during the live broadcast included Candice Glover, Angie Miller, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb and Janelle Arthur. The slate of guys featured Lazaro Arbos, Paul Jolley, Curtis Finch Jr., Burnell Taylor and Devin Velez.

Following the reveal, tweets from former contestants poured in for the fortunate finalists. Season six winner Jordin Sparks wrote "Congrats to the new Top 10 on @AmericanIdol! Keep your heads on straight & soak it all in! :)"

Smash country sensation and "AI" season four victor Carrie Underwood extended well-wishes to the group with a tweet of her own, which read "Congratulations to the @AmericanIdol top 10! You are going to have a blast on tour. I can't wait to meet all of you! Welcome to the family!"

Erika Van Pelt, who finished season 11 in 10th place, wrote "Congrats to the new @AmericanIdol Top 10! Hopefully I can come to LA and see you all perform live very soon ;)."

The newly minted top 10 had messages for their fans as well. Clearly overwhelmed by support, Taylor quipped "Hard For Me To Reply To Everybody Just Know I Love Y'all Like A Fat Kid Love Steaks" while Glover commented on her fans' dedication, writing "My candicanes are LEGIT. Thank you so much for voting! Tomorrow starts a whole new life!"

"American Idol" 2013 resumes March 13 with performances by the top 10.
