You may have been waiting for this for quite some time, but on Wednesday night, "American Idol" finally returned with new episodes. So who was the first singer to end up advancing to the next round? It took almost twenty minutes, but we had a successful singer show up in New York City named Tenna Torres.
This was a young woman who had a very special connection to one of the judges on the show: Mariah Carey. Specifically, she attended the singer's vocal camp many years ago when she was just a little girl, and has idolized her ever since.
With a story like this, you knew that she was going to have to be decent, right? Luckily, she was more than that. All four judges praised the young singer heavily for her performance as a whole on the show, and also feel as though she could go a long ways in the competition. While Carey did not remember her by name, she did love looking at the photos that she brought with her from the camp, and even requested copies of them.
This was really the sole highlight of the early portion of the show, as the rest of the time was spent with either bad auditions or fighting amongst the judges.
What did you think about this audition, and are you happy for the return of the show? If you want to read more "American Idol" news, be sure to head on over to the link here.
