"American Idol" revealed the first elimination results of season 12's top 10 on March 14, 2013 and for the first time in Idol's history the names of the top three vote recipients were announced, but "Idol" withheld who actually placed first, second and third on the voting roster. Tonight "American Idol" also held the sing-off which will decide which contestant receives the wildcard for Idol's summer tour.
Before we get into who was voted off "American Idol" let's congratulate the three "Idol" contestants who received the most votes. Remember, these names are in no particular order since we were not informed as to who placed where.
Candice Glover
Kree Harrison
Congratulations ladies!
America voted for their favorite boy and girl who had previously been eliminated from "American Idol" to compete in a sing-off for a wildcard spot in Idol's summer tour. Chosen were Charlie Askew and Aubrey Cleland. Charlie performed an original piece, "Sky Blue Diamond" and Aubrey chose to sing, "Here On My Own" from the movie, "Fame". Both did an admiral job but their fate is once again up to the voters. The voting results will be announced Wednesday, March 20 during "American Idol" which will air at 8/7c on FOX.
"American Idol" continued the elimination results announcing one by one who had made it through the elimination process, until two contestants remained. Those two were Devin Velez and Curtis Finch Jr., both of which had received the lowest amount of votes and both were in jeopardy of being eliminated from "American Idol".
Devin Velez was lucky and continues in the competition. Curtis Finch Jr. was not. The only thing standing between Curtis Finch Jr. and elimination from "American Idol" was a save from the judges. He had to sing for a second chance. He had to sing for a save that the judge's only have one of and to be granted that save "Idol" judges Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey must unanimously agree that he deserved it.
Curtis Finch Jr. chose to sing "I Believe I Can Fly", and in the beginning it wasn't his best, Curtis seemed to have given up. However, by the end of the song Curtis was soaring, his vocals were outrageous, it was the best I have ever heard him sing. But regardless of his performance the judges were not unanimous in granting Finch the save. Curtis Finch Jr. was eliminated from "American Idol" March 14, 2013.
With Curtis Finch Jr.'s elimination from "American Idol" the top 10 of season 12 have become 9. They are:
Candice Glover
Kree Harrison
Angie Miller
Lazaro Arbos
Amber Holcomb
Janelle Arthur
Burnell Taylor
Paul Jolley
Devin Velez
