While everyone in the media was suggesting last week that the sky was falling when it came to "American Idol," Hollywood Week has come around and changed the opinions of many.
Writing in a new pair of posts on Twitter, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe had this to say following the group round episode Thursday about not just the ratings, but some of the criticism over the lack of singing we saw on the show this time:
"I loved tonight's episode. Without the drama the journey means nothing. Group night never has performances. Next week has 4 hours of music ... #AmericanIdol = 55hrs of singing, 1hr of Drama. I love banging the hornets nest. Ratings up 4% on the week before. Thanks for your support."
Next week things will return to the more music-oriented format, but we have to say that group round this year was gold -- mostly due to the comic stylings of one Heejun Han, who was relentless in his skewering of fellow group member Richie Law.
Are you happy with this season now that the early rounds are over?
