'American Idol' 2012: Hollywood week concludes, Group week plagued with illness

'American Idol' Hollywood week concludes with 185 hopefuls scrambling to find partners for the most dreaded aspect of 'Idol', group week. An already stressful situation was made almost unbearable when sickness strikes and spreads throughout this elite group.

The first medical emergency transpired on the first night of 'American Idol' Hollywood week when 16-year-old Symone Black fainted and fell from the stage. Medics rushed to her aid and revived Symone. Her father then took her to the emergency room where Symone was checked out and found to be dehydrated.

Amy Brumfield was the next 'American Idol' contestant to fall ill. A stomach virus almost kept this 24-year-old tent dweller from finding a group. No one would take the chance of catching the flu and missing their chance at the 'American Idol' dream. Eventually Amy finds a group but not before spreading germs throughout the masses.

Christian Lopez caught the bug and had to retire to his room for a few hours to recuperate missing out on valuable rehearsal time. He finally felt strong enough to return to his group looking as if he might vomit at any moment. He finally succumbed, retching into a trash can. Let's hope this is a 24 hour bug because that's all the time he and the others have to get well.

Tonight's episode of 'American Idol' was filled with clips of contestants dropping like flies. What wasn't contributed to the flu-like virus was blamed on the stress of group week. Watch 'American Idol' Wednesday, February 15 at 8/7c on Fox. We will finally get to hear the groups perform at that time and see if talent prevails all.
