On “American Idol” tonight, March 6, Ryan sat down to talk to Randy Jackson after watching the recap from last night’s show. Randy didn’t feel the contestants lived up to their potential and commented that Harry might have had a case of indigestion. Harry Connick, Jr defended himself because he wasn’t hired as a mentor – if he was, he would be with them at the hotel until 5:00 a.m. He said he thought everyone was incredibly talented and was the best group of talent since the first season, but he didn’t see that last night. They played a video message from Drew Brees asking Harry to be a little more positive and told him to keep up the good work.
Then, it was time for results – Emily, Sam, Jessica, and Ben joined Ryan first. Ryan revealed that Emily was in the bottom three, but the others were safe.
Season 11 winner, Phillip Phillips, returned to the show to perform his new single, “Raging Fire.”
Next up to learn their results were Dexter, Jena, Alex, and Majesty. Ryan told Dexter, Majesty, and Alex they were safe, but Jena Irene was also in the bottom three.
This week, it was Randy’s turn to introduce a new band from UK that he had chosen to take the stage: Kodaline performed “All I Want.”
Malaya, MK, C.J., and Caleb received their results last – Caleb, C.J., and Malaya were safe, leaving MK in the bottom three.
Ryan went to Keith to ask what MK Nobilette needed to do to gain momentum. He said it was about connecting. Ryan told Jena that she was safe before revealing that Emily had to sing for her life to try and win the judges’ save, while MK was safe.
After Emily finished singing, the judges said they were not unanimous, and Harry said they were not going to use the save. That meant Emily Piriz was the one going home tonight.
