'American Hustle', 'Gravity' lead the 2014 Oscar nominations

And the nominees are.....predictable.

There were no real surprises when the nominees for the 2014 Academy Awards were announced on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. Golden Globe winner 'American Hustle' and 'Gravity' tied with ten nominations each, while fellow Globe winner, '12 Years a Slave', chimed in with nine.

David O. Russell, a nominee for Best Director for "American Hustle" set an achieved an interesting benchmark by becoming the first director to get actors nominated in all four acting categories...twice. That's pretty impressive.

The Academy honored nine movies with Best Picture nominations with the likes of 'Philomena', 'Captain Phillips', and 'Her' among those joining the three previously mentioned flicks.

Of course, it wouldn't be the Oscars without talking about who got snubbed. This year, it seems that burden falls on the Coen Brothers' "Inside Llewyn Davis", which managed only one nomination. But then again, that was one more nomination than both "Saving Mr. Banks" and "The Butler" combined.

The 86th annual Academy Awards will air live from the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday, March 2, 2014 and will be once again hosted by Ellen Degeneres. Check out the full list of nominees below.
