It was announced Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, that the 25th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival will present the acting ensemble from David O. Russel's new film "American Hustle" with its Ensemble Performance Award. This honor will be presented to the cast of "American Hustle," which includes Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner. Presented by Cartier, the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at the Palm Springs Convention Center in Palm Springs, Calif. Hosted by Mary Hart, the awards gala will also present honors to Sandra Bullock, director Steve McQueen, Matthew McConaughey, Bruce Dern and many more in the film industry, to be released soon. The Festival runs January 3-14.
“David O. Russell has created a viscerally powerful film,” said Festival Chairman Harold Matzner. “'American Hustle' grabs you from the start and is populated by a group of eminently believable characters as brought to life by this brilliant cast. The Palm Springs International Film Festival is proud to present the entire cast of 'American Hustle' with our 2014 Ensemble Performance Award.”
Previous recipients of the Ensemble Performance Award include the cast of the Oscar-winning film "Argo," and casts from the Oscar nominated films "The Social Network" and "Babel."
"American Hustle" was just named the top film of 2013 from New York Critics Circle and is set to receive multiple nominations from the Golden Globes and SAG Awards. The film is a fictional tale set in the 1970's featuring the abscam operation. Actress Jennifer Lawrence is getting huge Oscar buzz for her performance and just might take home a back to back Oscar win come next March.
"American Hustle" will be released in a limited basis on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. The film is rated R for pervasive language, some sexual content and brief violence and has a run-time of two hours and 18 minutes.

Whatever your movie choice this week, please remember your movie theater etiquette: silence your cell phones and no texting, please don't talk during the film and remove your children if they become a distraction to other audience members. Don't forget that laughing, crying and cheering are always approved behavior and even encouraged.
