The announcement comes days after writer and co-executive producer Douglas Petrie confirmed during the Nerdist Writers Panel podcast that the popular drama series will focus on a spooky carnival theme.

Murphy previously stated that the fourth season will take place in the 1950s with Jessica Lange on board for her fourth and final run. Murphy also said that Lange will have a German accent, leading fans and critics to narrow down themes surrounding that period.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Freak Show will indeed take place in 1950s Jupiter, Florida. Lange will be playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.

Previous AHS regulars set to return include Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy. Denise O'Hare and Emma Roberts are in talks to return.

The American Horror Story cast and showrunners are expected to show for the March 28th panel at PaleyFest.

Freak Show is expected to debut in October on FX.
