Season 4 of FX’s anthology American Horror Story will be set in a carnival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Writer and co-executive producer Douglas Petrie confirmed during the Nerdist Writers Panel podcast that the popular drama series will focus on a spooky carnival theme.

When asked if season four of American Horror Story will be based on the carnival theme, Petrie responded, “Very roughly, that's the idea.”

Show creator Ryan Murphy previously stated that the fourth season will take place in the 1950s with Jessica Lange on board for her fourth and final run. Murphy also said that Lange would have a German accent, leading fans and critics to narrow down themes surrounding that period.

Some theories included a nuclear panic much like The Hills Have Eyes, Area 51, the MIA aircraft, and of course the circus life.

There has been no official announcement to confirm the theme for season four nor any additional casting announcements have been made.

The American Horror Story cast and showrunners are expected to show for the March 28th panel at PaleyFest.
