On Dec. 2 Enstarz shares that new speculation suggests that season four of "American Horror Story" will be about the traveling carnival. There are many things that point to these speculations suggesting that this is more than likely true. As many know from previous seasons, Ryan Murphy is a fan of leaving clues behind in previous seasons to hint at what the coming season will entail.
In a recent interview, Murphy shared that season four would likely be filmed in either New Orleans or Santa Fe and the premise wouldn't be contemporary as "Coven" currently is. These facts seem to make the idea a lot more plausible. However, the idea has been made more concrete after an interview last year with Naomi Grossman who played Pepper in "American Horror Story: Asylum." Grossman shared that her character was modeled after a real-life sideshow performer named Schlitzie, a microcephalic (small head). Schlitze was one of the stars of the 1930s cult classic "Freaks", a movie about circus performers, and, coincidentally (or not) one of Murphy's favorite flicks.
The idea seems to easily come together when you put all these factors together. The idea of a traveling circus or carnival with creepy clowns and performers, dilapidated carnival rides and tents, and murderous or pedophile carnies seems more than enough to base a whole season and give people the willies.
What do you think of the idea of a carnival/ circus themed "American Horror Story"?
