The “American Horror Story” franchise has been incredibly popular since it began airing. The fourth installment is due out in October, and it looks like it will be terrifying. “American Horror Story: Freak Show” is the official title, and many of the stars from previous installments are returning. This will be the last for Jessica Lange who has been the center of the three previous seasons. According to a July 18 report from E! Online, Neil Patrick Harris wrote Ryan Murphy a letter asking to have a part in this season. Murphy apparently tweeted Harris about a role he would “love.”

Whether or not Neil Patrick Harris will actually appear on “American Horror Story: Freak Show” hasn't been confirmed. The offer could have been a joke, but fans are hoping it wasn't. Harris has been busy in recent years starring on “How I Met Your Mother.” The show wrapped production last season and it looks like Harris may be free for a new role.

In the weeks leading up to the October premiere, the official Facebook page for “American Horror Story” will post pictures and trailers for the new installment. From the announcement of actors being added to photos from filming, there will be a lot to keep up with. Jessica Lange is going to play the owner of the “freak show.” It is set in the 1950s, and there will be plenty of “freaks” to get to know.

Fans are excited to find out who will be starring in “American Horror Story: Freak Show.” Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy are all confirmed to return. Rumors of others returning have come and gone, but fans hope to see Connie Britton return one day. For now it looks like the show is shaping up to be frightening, especially for people who avoid attending the circus.
