‘American Horror Story’ Creator Ryan Murphy confirmed earlier this week that Jessica Lange will return to the series for Season 2. He also disclosed that he’s currently in negotiations with 4 prior cast members to return as well, who he has not yet named.
A People’s Choice Fan Poll was created on February 8th that asks this question:

The choices are: Evan Peters, Frances Conroy, Denis O’Hare and Zachary Quinto.
At the time of this printing (12:01 PM EST) on February 10th, Evan Peters leads the poll with 38% of the vote. The rest of the votes rank as follows:
Denis O’Hare 23%
Zachary Quinto 19%
Frances Conroy 19%

While the poll list is in no way indicative of which actors Murphy may or may not be talking to about returning for next season, it does reflect the public’s preference about these particular actors and who they would like to see come back.
Peters garnered a lot of critical acclaim and attention in his role as sociopathic but sympathetic Tate Langdon. He made a few 2011 Breakout Performance lists last year and generated several fan sites on Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook.
Peters’ young co-star and on-screen love interest, Taissa Farmiga (Violet Harmon) is out of the running to return as Murphy also made it clear that none of the 4 actors currently in talks were Harmons.
It was reported yesterday, February 9th, that Peters will star in the upcoming film ‘Adult World’ with John Cusack and Emma Roberts. According to IMDB the film is in pre-production and is scheduled to be released this year, in 2012.
So, will Peters even be freed up to return to filming AHS this fall if he is asked, or will the projects overlap?
We’ll just have to wait for Ryan Murphy to release further details…stay tuned!
