"American Horror Story: Coven" has sent Emma Roberts on one wild ride, and her bitch witch character Madison doesn't even own a flying broomstick. Madison is now a living dead girl who only feels alive when she's treating poor FrankenKyle like a sex toy, but she's not just worried about stealing the designer boyfriend that she helped Zoe build—she wants to become the next Supreme.
During a Dec. 4 interview with Yahoo! TV, Emma Roberts talked about Madison's "master plan." "Well, I think her master plan is kind of what everyone wants, to be the Supreme," she said. "Madison especially wants it, and I think that will become more and more apparent as the season goes on. I think she'll do whatever it takes, let's just put it that way."
Madison did do an amazing job pulling a fast one on Fiona in "The Sacred Taking." She convinced the dying Supreme that she regenerated herself after she was murdered, and she had Fiona ready to commit suicide to avoid getting burned at the stake. But then Spalding's pesky spirit had to show up and stop his beloved from letting go of her powerful position.
Madison might have some powers and qualities that would make her a suitable Supreme, but she's not the only member of the coven who wants the job. Zoe seemed pretty convinced that she was going to replace Fiona until Myrtle pointed out just how amazing Misty Day is with her power of regeneration. But of course Myrtle is going to be on Team Misty—the swamp witch brought her back from being burned at the stake.
During last night's episode of "American Horror Story: Coven," clairvoyant Nan also tried to stake her claim on the Supreme title, but her fellow witches immediately counted her out. However, she might be using her mind-reading powers to trick the other members of the coven into thinking that they're more powerful than they really are—Nan might be the one who is really behind setting those curtains on fire and summoning the Axeman. Then there's human voodoo doll Queenie, who has already given up hope of being named Supreme. Instead of fighting for the position of power, she's taking her chances with Marie Laveau.
Instead of competing with one another to become the Supreme, maybe all the members of the coven should try to get along. Perhaps the powers that be decided that no one witch should have all that responsibility after Fiona blew it so badly, meaning that there won't be just one Supreme. So maybe all that power was divided among Nan, Zoe, Queenie, Misty Day, and Madison instead of being bestowed on just one of them.
Queenie's now with the voodoo crew; Misty Day is always off in her own little world; and Nan's currently angry at her coven-mates for counting her out of the Supreme competition. She's also just a little distraught about her boyfriend Luke getting shot. But at least Madison and Zoe are working on becoming pals—they got really close when they had that freaky threesome with FrankenKyle. Emma Roberts said of shooting that scene, "In last week's episode, there were so many memorable scenes, but the threesome scene was definitely the hardest scene to shoot. There was also an intense sex scene that I had with Spalding that got cut. That experience in itself was really crazy and definitely hard to shoot. So there were a few tricky scenes."
That cut sex scene with Spalding reminds viewers just how much poor Madison has been through, and right now she needs friends like Kyle and Zoe. However, she didn't look very happy when her talking sex toy told Zoe that he loved her. Unfortunately, the whole coven is falling apart right when everyone needs to be banding together— Marie Laveau has Cordelia's witch hunter hubby working to exterminate the last of the Salem witches.
So do you think that Madison and the other witches will have to learn to share the responsibility of being the Supreme if they want to save their kind from extinction?
