On Sep. 3 E Online has shared the official synopsis and poster for "American Horror Story: Coven" set to release in early October. The poster is not only creepy, but some also claim that it could be seen as a dark spin on religion and the story of the snake and apple.
While the third installment of the horror drama has many returning cast members, there are several famous faces that will be bewitching us with their presence this year as well. Patti LuPone, Gabourey Sidibe, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Emma Roberts are only a few joining the cast that we haven't seen yet. Based on the title alone, this season will be focused on witches and the coven that they form to create their bewitching family. FX has also shared the official synopsis of the season and how it will all play out as many originally suspected the show to be about voodoo since it is set in New Orleans but also about the Salem witch trials. The synopsis says:
"Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way."
This season is supposed to be more light-hearted and funny compared to seasons past, however, it is still going to be a horror drama at its core. "American Horror Story: Coven" will air on FX Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. Will you be watching?
