Halloween is upon us again, and it’s time to take in all the spooky television programming along with the beautiful and colorful fall foliage the season offers. 2013 Halloween TV shows and specials new and old are in abundance, from “Sleepy Hollow”, “American Horror Story: Coven” and a “Super Fun Night” Halloween special, to the annual “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”, there’s something for everyone. Even Pixar Animation Studios is joining in on the fun, airing their new TV film "Toy Story of Terror!" on ABC Oct. 16, reported The Wall Street Journal Sun. Oct. 13.
Family sitcom “The Middle” is back this year with their Halloween-centered story. In this episode we follow the Heck clan where daughter Sue swears that she sees the ghost of Christopher Columbus during a séance. Axl, now at college, gets hazed by the football team and is not allowed to go to a Halloween party that's taking place in his own dorm, and Brick gets advice from the family on how to ask a girl he likes to go to a Halloween dance. (Wed. Oct 30 at (8:00 p.m., ET). In “Super Fun Night’s” “Chick or “Cheat” we see Kimmie and Kendall compete once again, this time at the office Halloween party. (Wed. Oct. 16).
Even several new shows that premiered this year are not only naturally spooky and bewitching, but are also becoming network hits. Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow,” a modern-day twist on Washington Irving's classic, has been getting much acclaim and is becoming quite the DVR favorite. Besides the fact that the premise involves the headless horsemen being one of the Four of the Apocalypse, the show consists of other spine-tingling entities (witches, Sandman), that’s sure to get your heart racing. (Fox, Mondays, 9 p.m.).
And then there’s FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” in which the premiere has been the most-watched “American Horror Story” yet. The title is pretty self-explanatory, and the opening credits alone will make you have to change your undergarments. (FX, Wednesdays, 10 p.m.).
Of course, you can’t forget about the classic “It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” which will air Thurs. Oct. 31 on ABC at 8 p.m.
