'American Horror Story: Asylum' recap: 'Continuum' leaps toward finale

With one more episode left, "American Horror Story: Asylum" decided to time jump a bit last night in order to further the adventures of Sister Jude (Jessica Lange), Kit (Evan Peters) and Lana (Sarah Paulson.) All have gone through some significant changes, but not necessarily for the best. What happened in "Continuum"? Well read on to find out.

Warning, this article contains spoilers from last night's episode.

One Big Happy, or Maybe Not

Poor Kit. Just when it seems that life was going his way (2 wives instead of one), all heck has to break loose. The opening shot of Kit with the ax was a great set-up, however in true "AHS" fashion, all was not as it seemed. It appears that even though some time has passed, Grace cannot let go of the alien abduction, though it is something Alma wishes she could forget. Alma simply wants to put it behind them, but once Grace declares that she would like to invite the Aliens back into their home, Alma looses it and takes an ax to Grace. This causes Alma to be become the latest patient at Briarcliff, but not for too long since she mysteriously passes away later in the episode.

To call the death of Grace (yet again) sudden is an overstatement, and really put a damper on the happy ending that many were hoping Kit would receive. Hopefully the deaths of Alma and Grace don't signify an end to the alien storyline, especially with so many unanswered questions lingering.

He's a Maniac

Lana has a bestseller on her hands, but at the expense of the complete truth. It seems that she has fibbed a bit in order to make the book a bit more exciting (as if it really needed that), and is now obsessed with the fame that fell into her lap. While at a book signing, she is visited by Kit who reminds her that the original goal was to take down Briacriff, not become a sell out. He also reveals that Sister Jude is alive (but not well), but the new and improved Lana figures any horrors that are happening to Jude are her own doing, since she helped make Briarcliff into what it is.

Meanwhile, back in the present, Bloody Face 2 is busy plotting a reunion with his mom, and needs the only copy left of her book to do it. I must say, I am rather intrigued by all this, and wonder if Lana will actually make it to end the of season.

What Year is It?

When we were promised that line between sane and insane would be a blurry one, they weren't kidding, especially where Sister Jude is concerned. Now named Betty thanks to Cardinal Howard (he got a promotion), Jude has lost her identity and her mind. But she makes the most of it, still running things as best she can, with Pepper as her helpful sidekick. But once the church hands Briarcliff over to the state, the halls become more crowded, and Jude is forced to room with a woman that looks oddly like the Angel of Death. Is the Dark Angel simply toying with Jude, or has she truly lost her mind. We won't really know until next week, however it must be said that no one can play crazy like Jessica Lange.
