The "American Horror Story: Asylum" alum has landed a multi-episode arc as Eleanor Schrock, a shunned Mennonite who's described as "sinister" and "ruthless."
According to TV Guide, the second season of "The Bridge" will focus more on the relationship between lead detectives Marco (Demian Bichir) and Sonya (Diane Kruger), who were brought in to investigate a murder on the border of the United States and Mexico during the first season.
The series, based on the Danish/Swedish co-production of the same name, also stars Annabeth Gish, Ted Levine and Thomas W. Wright. Matthew Lillard and Emily Rios, who both recurred as El Paso Times reporters during the show's initial season, have since been promoted to series regulars for Season 2.
Potente, 39, appeared in two episodes of the second season of "American Horror Story" as Charlotte Brown, a patient who was obsessed with the Holocaust and believed she was Anne Frank. The German actress's other credits include "The Bourne" film series, "Run Lola Run," Blow" and the FX police drama "The Shield."
Season 2 of "The Bridge" is slated to premiere in the summer of 2014 on FX.
