'American Horror Story 3' chooses new title, reveals spoilers

"American Horror Story" 3 has chosen a new name, and Ryan Murphy announced it at PaleyFest 2013. According to Dread Central on March 15, the third season of the horror series will be titled "American Horror Story: Coven."

The first season of "American Horror Story" was a ghost story about a haunted family and the second was titled "American Horror Story: Asylum" and was about an evil mental institution. This third series is about more human evil, and from the interviews he did last season, will take place in a more outdoor open space.

The title also makes it sound like the horror aspects of American Horror Story: Coven" might revolve around witches.

One surprise guest for PaleyFest 2013 was brand new cast member Kathy Bates. Jessica Lange will also return for the third season, marking her third on the show, and Ryan Murphy said he wants to see a lot of Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates "going at it" in "American Horror Story 3."

Bates said she loved the show from the beginning and actually petitioned to be on the show, calling up Lange and telling her that she would do anything if she could be on the show. They also revealed that Bates and Lange would portray former friends turned enemies.
