American Heart Month benefits at Charlotte restaurants

The National Go Red for Women's Heart Health campaign continues locally with a Ladies Night Out event on Feb. 10. For the Love of Chocolate Progressive Culinary Event at CPCC Harris Campus features an extensive array of chocolate, wine, hearty appetizers, pampering stations, and more.  6-7:30 pm. $25. Tickets are available online.

Charlotte diners can contribute to the cause by dining out this month, as several restaurants pledge a portion of their sales to the Go Red Heart Health campaign. 
 
The many locations of Charlotte Greek chain Showmars will donate one dollar from every large Greek salad sold Jan. 30-Feb. 10 to the American Heart Association. The restaurants will also sell AHA Red Dress pins for $5. Buy one and get a  $2 coupon to use on your next visit to Showmars in February.

Eddie's Place on Sharon Amity in Cotswold promises to Love Your Heart Feb. 1-29. During the entire month, a percentage of sales witll be donated to the American Heart Association for the fight against heart disease. In addition, customers are invited to "decorate with HEART" by making a donation in any amount and hanging up a heart in the restaurant. Donations of $5 or more receive a Red Dress pin. 
 
Buy a Valentine's cookie at any Panera location between Feb. 1 and Feb. 14 and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Orlando Heart Institute, a major player in the pursuit of heart health. There are 11 Panera Bakery and Cafe locations in the Charlotte region.
