Test your Wine Skills while savoring Fine food & wines!

Now celebrating its seventh year, the American Fine Wine Competition (AFWC) is the largest and most prestigious All-American wine invitational in the country – and we’re lucky to have it right here in Boca! The Competition involves thousands of wines, months of judging, and a full year of preparation and planning. And it all cumulates at the AFWC Charity Wine Gala, taking place this year on April 4 at the renown Boca Raton Resort & Club (look for more details on the Gala in my subsequent article). But first, in anticipation of the big Gala, come enjoy the AFWC Wine Carnival & Consumer Challenge on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 (6:30-9:00 p.m.) at Sonoma House in Boca Raton.

This unique (and fun!) allows guests to test their “Wine Skills” at wine-themed carnival booths (like Ring the Wine Bottle, and “Wine Pong”), while savoring fine wines and food. Here’s your chance to experience unlimited pours of award-winning wines from this year’s Competition and from Total Wine & More (the official AFWC retail wine sponsor), plus savor chef’s offerings from Segreto (Boca), Terra Fiamma (Delray), Publix Aprons Cooking School, A Flair for Fudge, and more. Ten guests will have the chance to win a spot at the Consumer Challenge Table, and even win two tickets to the AFWC Charity Wine Gala (a $600 value)! Even better, it all goes to benefit a worthy charity. Proceeds will help raise funds for Deliver the Dream and its Family Retreat Program, helping children and parents with serious illness or crisis to regain strength, mend spirits, and just be families and kids again.

"This is a fun, exciting and unique evening for all wine lovers to experience the AFWC and help raise funds for this year’s benefiting charity, Deliver the Dream," said American Fine Wine Competition President and Co-Founder Shari Gherman. "The AFWC has always placed a priority on supporting the community, evidenced by our raising more than half-a-million dollars for charity since our inception seven years ago.”

The 2014 AFWC sponsors include: Jim Kar, Financial Advisor at Principal Financial; Florida Fresh Meat; FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality; Air Around the Clock; Coventry Health Care; Total Wine & More; Northstar Seafood, The Produce Connection, Aqua Panna and San Pellegrino, and Rod Coleman & Assoc.

AFWC Wine Carnival & Consumer Challenge admission is $50 per person.
