A Wine Lovers’ Night of Indulgence, Discovery, and Giving - Friday, April 4th
The Big Wine Bash is almost here! The American Fine Wine Competition (AFWC) Charity Wine Gala takes place on Friday, April 4 at the legendary Boca Raton Resort & Club. As you may know, the AFWC is the largest, and the most prestigious All-American wine invitational in the country. Food and wine fans have already enjoyed several of the preliminary events, including the most recent Wine Carnival (see: http://www.examiner.com/article/american-fine-wine-competition-uncorks-its-wine-carnival-consumer-challenge). But those were just “appetizers” leading up to the main course -- the big Charity Wine Gala. The Boca Raton Resort & Club again plays host for south Florida’s premier wine event. This year's soiree (Friday, April 4th, from 6:30 – 11:00 p.m.) is themed “A night of indulgence, discovery, and giving,” with all proceeds going to benefit the worthy cause of Deliver the Dream.
All guests -- from top local business professionals, to international wine collectors and experts, to local folks who just enjoy good wine (and a good party!) will undoubtedly dig visiting 30 “Winery Tasting Rooms” hosted by the select winemakers themselves, who will be pouring their highest award-winning wines. Then, off to a one-of-a-kind five-course gourmet feast, custom-created by Boca Raton Resort chefs to pair with the many wines served throughout the night. “Many” wines? That's not just a few selections, mind you – or even a few dozen – but a record-setting 766 wines! As AFWC Founder Shari Gherman proudly notes, “all wines were contestants in the 7th annual American Fine Wine Competition (which took place in January at FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management), including the top winners from all categories.” Where else will you ever have this opportunity to sample and explore so many outstanding wines, including some rare vintages and boutique wineries, along with a specially made 5-course gourmet meal, among so many other fellow wine enthusiasts!
The night also features a Silent Auction of all of the wines from the competition -- signed by the winemaker or vintner. Late Night with David Letterman's own Alan Kalter will again play host and emcee to a Live Auction, which will feature all sorts of of exciting wines and vineyard travel packages. In addition, sultry songstress Hilary Kole will provide the live entertainment.
Individual tickets are still available at $310. Special corporate tables include VIP seating for 10, plus a full-page ad in the beautiful event program and a “Concierge Wine Angel.”
Special room rates for the Gala weekend are available for AFWC Gala attendees at the The Boca Raton Resort & Club, located at 501 East Camino Real, in Boca Raton. Call (888) 557-6375.
Be Safe! Red Cap car service is offering special AFWC rates that evening for rides home.
The American Fine Wine Competition was established locally by Shari Gherman, in order to support the finest wines produced in the U.S. (including many smaller independent vitners), while also promoting local business, supporting American wineries, and raising funds for charity. The AFWC has raised over $600,000 for charity (and counting) so far. This year’s worthy charity is Deliver the Dream.
Sponsors of the AFWC and Gala include Jim Kar, Financial Advisor at Principal Financial, Florida Fresh Meat and FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality; Air Around the Clock, Coventry Health Care, Total Wine & More, The Produce Connection and Aqua Panna S. Pellegrino.
