American Authors played their first major arena back in June right here in Washington when they opened for OneRepublic and The Script at Comcast Arena. They are coming back to the area this October, this time as the headliner, for the second leg of the 2014 Honda Civic Tour.
The Brooklyn-based band is still riding high from the success of their first single “Best Day of My Life.” By now it is almost impossible for someone to have not heard this song. It has been featured pretty much everywhere: commercials for Lowe’s and Hyundai; movie trailers for “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and “Delivery Man”; sports coverage by ESPN and Fox. It has even been covered on both NBC’s “The Voice” and Fox’s “Glee.”
Comprised of lead vocalist Zac Barnett, James Adam Shelley and guitar and banjo, bassist Dave Rublin, and Matt Sanchez on drums, this foursome hails straight out of the esteemed Berklee School of Music in Boston, Mass. Their second single “Believer” is now taking off on radio. It is an upbeat, optimistic track that is perfect for summer. It will make you want to sing along and the melody and lyrics make it easy for the listener to do so.
The band will finish touring with OneRepublic mid-Aug. and will head over to Europe, Australia and New Zealand for some festival dates before returning to the U.S. Beginning in October they will headline the 2014 Honda Civic Tour, a three-part tour that begins with co-headliners Grouplove and Portugal. The Man (who will also have a stop in Seattle Aug. 10 at Marymoor Park).
American Authors will play the Showbox on Oct. 9. The show will include openers Echosmith and The Mowgli’s. Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 1, at 10:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased here through AXS.
