The Balvenie Rare Craft Collection, a first-of-its-kind exhibition featuring original works from some of America’s finest craftspeople, came to Dallas on September 10 and 11 as part of a six-city tour.
The Balvenie Brand Ambassador and Texas native Jonathan Wingo lead a master tasting class, featuring Balvenie. Wingo was recognized in 2012 by Forbes Magazine’s “30 Under 30” in the Food and Wine category for his boutique liquor store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn called The Whiskey Shop and his dedication to curating a collection of craft and obscure whiskies distilled from all over the world.
The Balvenie core range includes The Balvenie DoubleWood 12-Year Old ($49.99), The Balvenie 14-Year old Caribbean Cask ($65.99), The Balvenie Single Barrel 15-Year Old ($79.99), The Balvenie DoubleWood 17-Year Old ($129.99), and The Balvenie PortWood 21-Year Old ($169.99).
Carmel, California and Dallas, Texas were the first two stops on the six-city tour.
The tour across the US continues with
- New York City, New York – October 7
- Chicago, Illinois – October 15
- Washington, D.C. – November 11
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – November 19
The crafts and labors of love will be presented from bowler hats and bicycles to electric guitars and Ping-Pong tables; this collection represents rare crafts from every corner of America.
A sample of the craftspeople to be featured in the Rare Craft Collection includes: Graham Thompson of Optimo Hats in Chicago, Illinois along with his team of expert hat makers that create top-of-the-line fedoras, porkpies, homburgs as well as many other styles for hat lovers; Rick Kelly of Kelly Guitars based in Greenwich Village, New York, crafts guitars by hand, using reclaimed lumber, specifically white pine that he rescues from trash heaps and decomposition. Schirley Zisman of Golden Bear Sportswear in San Francisco, California is the lead designer for the authentic leather and wool outerwear manufacturer that has produced Varsity, Bomber and Motorcycle jackets since the 1950’s.
Scotch Whisky master classes, hosted by The Balvenie Ambassador Jonathan Wingo, are also available. Seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. RSVP required at www.thebalvenie.com/collection.
