This Saturday morning in Los Angeles, in collaboration with the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, American Apparel will be holding a rummage factory sale!
It will take place in their first floor cafeteria from 10am-8pm. There will be tons of your favorite American Apparel pieces to chose from - everything from basic tees, hoodies, and sweats to their shiny-shiny leggings, leotards, and accessories. Their items will be up to 85% off, with prices starting at $2.
This vertically-integrated clothing manufacturer is known for choosing not to outsource its work, instead paying its factory workers an average of $12/hour. With its own fabric dye house, garment dye house, and knitting facility, American Apparel is the largest single garment factory in the United States. Banners saying "Legalize LA", "Immigration Reform Now!" and "American Apparel is an Industrial Revolution" hang prominently outside their Los Angeles factory building.
All of the proceeds from this factory sale will be donated to support immigrant justice work of various human rights organizations. Organizations include: the Casa Libre Immigrant Children's Homeless Youth Shelter, the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, the Coalition for Humane Immigration Reform of Los Angeles, Hermandad Mexicana Latinoamericana, and the National Day Laborers Organizing Network.
