American Airlines receives federal approval to allow personal electronic devices on all flights. The airline submitted plans to the Federal Aviation Administration for approval, and as of 5pm CST Monday, November 3, they began allowing small electronics from gate to gate. This includes the regional American Eagle operated flights.
The FAA issued policy guidance to airlines last week to relax the personal electronic device usage. While small handheld device use is greatly expanded, larger electronics such as laptops must continue to be stowed during taxi and take-off/landing for safety reasons, and cellphones must remain in 'Airplane Mode' for the duration of flight.
