'America's Next Top Model' recap: Nicole named top model for cycle 13 on season finale

Nicole named top model for cycle 13 of "America's Next Top Model" on season finale, November 18, 2009.

The judges felt Nicole had her dull moments but overall looked amazing in photographs. They thought her photographs were fabulous, and she was made to model high fashion in Milan. Tyra told Nicole she is a star and she is a model.

As winner of "America's Next Top Model" cycle 13, Nicole has earned representation from Wilhelmina Models, a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl and a cover and six-page spread with Seventeen magazine.

Are you a CoverGirl?

Teyona, the "America's Next Top Model" cycle 12 winner, was on hand this week to help Laura and Nicole with their CoverGirl commercial and photo shoot. Nigel Barker was the models' photographer.

Nicole looked beautiful during her photo shoot. Her eyes were really popping, which was great because she was selling the Lash Blast mascara. Nigel thought she looked amazing, as well, and thought she modeled really well.

Laura struggled during her commercial. She struggled getting the correct lines out, and you could tell she was very frustrated. Eventually, she got her frustration under control and put together a fantastic commercial, especially the ending, which was absolutely adorable.

Nicole looked beautiful in her commercial, but she seemed really dead. She just didn't have a lot of emotion going on, and she wasn't connecting to her audience. Jay told her she sounded like a snob who is too good for the product she is selling.

Laura looked adorable in her photo shoot, and I think she really looked like a CoverGirl model. She had the greatest energy, too.

The surprising thing about the commercials were that when they were played in full during the judges' panel, I really liked Nicole's commercial more. She seemed brighter than Laura.

Seventeen magazine cover

After their CoverGirl photo and commercial shoot, the models headed back to their house for the Seventeen magazine cover photo shoot.

Nicole and Laura have such different personalities and had such different photo shoots. Nicole looks more like a super model and runway model, whereas Laura really fits the CoverGirl/Seventeen magazine look.

Walking the runway

Eliminated cycle 13 models Erin, Brittany, Sundai and Jennifer were brought back for the finale to walk at the runway show. When asked who they thought should win, Brittany was the only model who believed Nicole would win.

In my opinion, Nicole's walk was horrible. She was swinging her shoulders really hard, and they looked like they were swinging separate from the rest of her body. She did, however, look beautiful. Nicole had improved by her third walk, but she still just wan't walking soft and elegant. She really was walking like a man.

Laura, on the other hand, looked and walked phenomenal. I really did not see Laura as a top model until that moment, and after the walk she had my vote to win.
